I’m afraid socially distanced gigs just aren’t that viable. Say you want to go and see a mid sized band in the Brixton arena, you could have 5000 people paying £20 a head meaning the gig takes in £100k. Now, cut the capacity of the arena to (being very generous) 1000 to allow for table seating with 2m between tables. Are these 1000 people really willing to pay £100 each to sit at a table watching a mid sized band? I think it might happen as a very short lived fad among people who really miss gigs but it would die out very quickly when people realise they’re paying 5x the price for a much inferior product.

There's a difference between seating with 2m between tables like we need now, and raked seating like you'd have post-vaccine. Those gigs happen all the time. A vaccine means things can dial right down, but rubbing your sweaty body against strangers is something I think we will keep off the table for a while.

I imagine Printworks (ugh) and NQ will be the problem areas

Potentially, I was in NQ last weekend and it wasn't bad.

My issue is with a reporter making sweeping statements about the whole of Manchester.

(No snark aimed at the OP just about the tweet included)

Print works is possibly the worst place on the planet

Printworks is the pits.

I’ve not been in a place in Manchester that hasn’t adhered to the rules since the re-opening.

I did, however, notice numerous parties taking place in flats.
