I just have zero interest in anything they’ve released after 2006. Don’t know if that’s a shared experience? Na I think most people will be the same, myself included. They've only had 2 albums since though. They're just one of those bands that hardly anybody really cares about their new material, but they have more than enough huge songs and albums to continue off. Talk of headlining the Other (from others, not still responding to the quote) is pretty wild though imo. Let's not forget that she said "kind of Pyramid level headliners". That does not apply to RHCP. I think the biggest names we should expect for that are Foals, Biffy Clyro, 1975 etc, not one of the biggest bands of the last 20 years. FloorFiller
RHCP would be such a weird booking for Glastonbury in 2020, but with the headliner pool dwindling and some of those left to tick off either demanding too much money or just not being interested in doing it I could possibly see why they’d go down that rout, given that they’ve been a huge band for so long and never played. It’d look weird as hell on paper, but you can’t argue that they’ve got enough tunes to keep a festival crowd happy. I don’t see it happening and think BST or IOW seem more likely, but if they’ve struggled to tie down a headliner then they’re a perfectly adequate one who seem willing to do it. wro_lap
RHCP would fall into the Taylor/Kendrick category of never having played the farm, yes? But didn’t Emily’s vocabulary somewhat imply the two headliners they had booked were both solo artists?

Her words were open to interpretation and she referred to the two booked headliners as something like ‘the people involved’. Whilst you could argue that if it was two bands she could have said so, the use of the term ‘people’ could indicate two solo artists, one solo artist and one band, or even two bands (if EE didn’t want to give away that fact). I think Emily's comments about two that have never played before have done a decent job of spicing up the conversation. We were stuck on conversations about 1975, Foals and Macca for long enough! ModBoy
Hear a lot on here about who the 2 headliners who have never played the festival before might be, but who are peoples guesses for the act that has been in negotiations since the summer? And are we thinking it is an act that has played the festival before?

RHCP whilst an all time great band, have been average for a number of years. Seconding what someone mentioned previously, they were rather ordinary in Singapore at the F1 recently. I’d be very surprised to see them be booked to headline the Pyramid. *books The Cure and The Killers in 2019* I don't see RHCP as really being any different to booking Foo Fighters - a whole load of bleh on recent albums, best days undoubtedly behind them, but still loads of hits to fill a headline set.
