Eh, it’s alright. Was hoping they might bring something new to the table but it’s just a bit of a by the numbers Idles track imo - hopefully not representative of the rest of the album.

I was hoping it was going to be one of the ones with a Sax that Joe had mentioned.

If this album is a success do you think this will put them in a position to start headlining festivals? Not the big ones like Glasto, but stuff like Y Not and Bearded Theory?

Can definitely envisage a Green Man/EOTR headline slot if it does really well.

There's sax right at the end, right? And keyboard throughout? I wouldn't accuse them of going by the book on this one.

Sounds pretty fresh to me. I like it. Feels more Brutalism than Joy, which is fine by me.

They played it live on the last tour, weren't down really well.

I could see Bearded Theory, Green Man etc. Town Centre at Boomtown.

John Peel headliners at Glastonbury?

First couple of listens and so far I am a fan of it.

Yeah, I like it too.
This is going to sound like I’m taking the piss, but I like how Joe Talbot’s voice makes me believe it’s possible I could be a frontman.

My friends prevent me from entering Karoake bars because I'd happily do an Idles track😂

ULTRA MONO

And why not. the first few beatles albums were in mono, anyone complain about those?

Haha I mean yea, ULTRA MONO but with the choice of stereo, and it's cheaper in stereo too!

Could see them headlining the John Peel or maybe subbing the Other next time out

Do we think idles will be playing next year? They weren't on the line up for 2020, but hopefully with the new album out they must be more likely to have a good slot next year. 👌🤞🤞

Yes.

Provided enough space has opened up on the bill from this year's lot, it makes perfect sense for them to come back in 2021.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
