Other Stage

I didn't watch anything at the other stage in 2017. Hoping for some better fare in 2019.

As for headliners, who are decent options?

Chemical Brothers (again)

Other than that, I am struggling.

I'd love for Glastonbury to go for something different. Rammstein maybe. Then again though, after how few people were at Boy Better Know, is "different" a good move?

The Prodigy are a shout I reckon. The Streets have been thrown around a lot. Not sure if that's an Other thing or a JP thing. No idea how big they are.

Someone had info a while back stating The Streets were offered Pyramid sub or Other Header.

I'm sure The Streets played Jazz/World in 2009. He headlined JP in 2011 so I do wonder if his absence has really elevated his stature sufficiently for an Other Stage headline. Who knows, but I'd be very surprised if he was anywhere near playing such a significant slot. Other will surely have a big "dance" act, so Prodigy is a good shout I recon. As for the others, not a clue

It has yes. The Streets sell more tickets now then they ever have done.

There’ll be something rappy/dancey for da yoof one night... Post Maline?

Too big. Suspect any festival he does next year will be headlining.

Yeah - but not PM. I imagine he's too expensive and also doesn't need the exposure. 2 nights at the O2 shifted in minutes at £75 a pop. (I had the misfortune of having to buy some for teenagers  .... and then an extra £40 in "service fees").

BBK playing last year was a good idea, but absolutely daft to put them against Ed and his looper.

Just as a point on BBK, I didnt think it was as empty as people made out.

You could get to the barrier just before they come on, but I turned round when they had started and it looked back to the sound desk at least.

Kano didnt finish at the Park until 15 minutes before they come on so I think everyone got down after that.

But bands for The Other potentially:

The Streets
Pale Waves
Bloc Party (Hopefully Opener)
The Coral
Jamie XX
Tame Impala
You Me At Six
J Hus
Sigrid
Tom Grennan
Jessie Ware
Gerry Cinnamon
DMA's
Declan McKenna

Just to name a few.

    • People seem to have got obsessed about 'secret sets' at all festivals this year even when there aren't any spaces other than, in EOTR's case, the usual late Folly sets that 90%+ of the time are from artists who are already playing.
    • To be fair @Superscally barely mentions the running thing. Very quiet about it 😘
    • I guess we'll just have to wait until videos of the shows go up, but the fact that the standing is also greyed out still suggests to me that those sections just sold out out before the others and a blue block just be like 3 tickets left, it's still not concrete proof they never went on sale and if they were never on sale why would they not make it even, if 414 wasn't on sale then you'd think 409 wouldn't be either
    • Selfish, but I've done the 2 days I'm there.. i'll try to do the rest through the day but might get beaten to it as it's editable....    https://clashfinder.com/s/ape2026/
    • I don’t think the festival automatically ‘need’ to have a female headliner if you have strong female headliners on the Other Stage (which I reckon will be Rosalia and Phoebe Bridgers), perhaps a female legend (praying for Annie, will take Cher), and a few female/mix gendered subs on the Pyramid (maybe London Grammar, The xx). From what I’ve seen of Sabrina, her team prioritises the pay day and I think she will be doing Wembley over Glasto weekend.   One thing I’ve noticed is a lot of the suggestions would be first time headliners and I can’t work out when the last time was that the festival had three artists top the bill that hadn’t topped it before? It seems to be something they like to do to make sure they have a ‘safe’ headliner that will land well with the masses. Plenty of names in that hat that could step back up next summer and should/could be about: Billie Eilish, Adele, Foo Fighters, The Cure, Radiohead, U2…hell, if Beyoncé is really planning to release a ‘rock n roll’ album to complete her Renaissance trilogy, Glastonbury would be a great place to ‘kick off’ that campaign for her.   And there’s always the Rihanna rumour. Her husband (I think) said this week she’s in the studio.
