My first ever Reading & Leeds! Fantastic weekend.

My first thought when looking at this poster was 'why the fuck did I not see Slipknot', but then I just remembered Joey Jordison broke his ankle shortly before so they had to pull out. No one replaced them, everyone else was essentially just bumped up. As a huge Feeder fan I didn't actually mind too much.

Mental, is this the year Alexisonfire played twice too ?

I believe that was the year after.

My main memory from 2008 is a rumour going round the entire campsite that the band on the bill for the BBC Introducing stage called 'The FF'ers' were actually the Foo Fighters coming to do a secret mini set. Mass disappointment ensued when there really was just a band call The FF'ers and they were booed and bottled off stage. Hilarious at the time, but quite harsh really (though maybe a bit of a poor choice of band name).

Wouldn't happen these days with things like smartphones and being easily able to look things up, but I suppose that would've been one of the last few years where word of mouth at the site is all you had!

Wouldn’t be too against it myself but suppose that means he would have to play Friday leeds Saturday cream and finish reading or other way around??

I don't really know who he is to be honest. Not something I'd listen to.

Could the delay in the announcement be due to the fact that MCR are playing. Does it say anywhere that the MK show is their only UK show this year ? Are R&L waiting until the MK show tickets have sold before announcing MCR ?

There's nothing official that its MCR's only UK this year, it was advertised on some leaked posters as 'Only UK headline show' wise choice of words IMO, could mean they're headlining a UK festival. I imagine after Friday (assuming it sells out) an announcement will come around then. Although their MK show is only a couple of days before Glasto.

That’s what I thought

If it’s the case that they are then I’d expect an announcement Monday or Tuesday

Not true actually! BMTH were drafted in last minute and opened the stage, they got bottled too!

Are the Offspring still around , are they a sub or a co or am I making them miles bigger than they actually are

Yeah that's overestimating them at R&L. 4th or 5th on Main or closing The Pit if they ever show up. The latter would be much better. Busy at Download this year so won't be here in 2020.

Yh fair enough, pit headliner would be alright tbh

Aerosmith? They are actually active this summer fits the left field for R&L demographic,

ive said that, they’d be a good Sunday headliner

Think being at Glasto probably counts them out but their tour dates go up to the end of July. Nothing after to rule them out, so just whether they want to come back a month later.

That said, they're only two UK dates are London and Manchester, so I suspect they're out just on that basis.

Not that it’s a good thing, but Kings ofLeon getting booked the year before last was unexpected

True, but they've headlined the festival before and are regular enough on the festival circuit in general. It was a surprise in the sense of how they weren't even rumoured but not in the sense of how much they're the sort of band R&L would book.

    • I agree the prices are tough for locals. You can see if Porto timetable is the type that works for you and it's a terrific city. Also cheaper. https://www.primaverasound.com/es/porto/lineup-porto
    • thanks XXialac! i guess for us the most important aspect will be a festival that starts very late in the day, specially in these southern countries were it can be really hot! The combination of visiting a new city, having good lunches and enjoying a festival is a absolute must for us. Also, we like headliners but the undercard is just as important; truly enjoyed Men I trust, NewDad, Big Thief this year so from that angle it is not really a big thing if a festival is somewhat smaller.    Apparently my bad, i had 5 in my system but 0.5 (10%) increase is still huge. I am not sure how teenagers can afford these prices............
    • That second part was how I felt about Rock IM Park this year trying first. I found that when it gets to like the 3rd act on the main stage down, you've gotta make a choice to miss anything leading up might not enjoy and it's sometimes while closer for not a great view as everyone in turn has to make the call too. Being short doesn't help as I'd just be able be further bacm but still see.
    • I wasn’t slagging Scooter off, they are undeniably silly. As I said, they are the definition of a meme booking for Download. People requested them for years because it was silly.
