TheFullShaboo
Not exactly sure where to post this entirely speculative post, but here goes.. Rob Da Bank has posted another ambiguous post on Instagram, which could easily be interpreted that Bestival is making a return. Individually, it could probably be interpreted in regards to the music festival collectively, however it does follow a host of other posts relating to Bestival including one that mentions free tickets for the individual seen in his local bar wearing a Bestival 2015 hoodie, without confirming if he meant Camp Bestival or Bestival.... For me, when it was on the Isle of Wight, it was the only festival that felt anywhere close to the levels of Glastonbury.

I think Bestival’s time has gone to be honest, went a few times when it was on the IOW and while it was always enjoyable it never got anywhere near Glastonbury. Plus it was a ball ache to get to/from. Didn’t Boomtown pretty much steal all their punters anyway?
zeppelin
I remember doing Bestival in 2011 and 12 I think. Absolutely loved it. But heard things really went downhill in the years after. Would be a seriously risky endeavour to try and bring that back in this climate. Can't see it myself. I can't really see Bestival coming back next summer, but I guess if Rob is attached to whoever owns the name (which probably isn't him now) then I guess he'll have an urge to try and get it going again if he can - so never say never. Having an early morning ferry across with everyone on board in the festival spirit was always a laugh and the perfect start to the weekend IMO. Definitely something special about being separated from 'the mainland' by the channel. Not too sure (i used to do both) but it definitely attracts a similar crowd. 9 minutes ago, zeppelin said: I remember doing Bestival in 2011 and 12 I think. Absolutely loved it. Yeah i went to the last one on the IOW but it had definitely lost its edge. Although The Cures performance there will go down as one of my favourite ever headliner sets at a festival. If i was to return i know my group would definitely take a punt on it!
Hugh Jass
I last went in 2012 and despite only being 30 at the time I felt ancient.
TheFullShaboo
Something that definitely belongs in this thread... Just picked myself up two tickets - one vinyl and one CD package - for £45 including postage. Big fan of these crash records intimate gigs, caught Bombay at Brudenell and it was my favourite gig of 2019.

When Live Nation acquired Camp Bestival from Rob's loan shark pal they also got the "Bestival" trademark via Safe Festivals Group Ltd that LN's Mama Group controls. So if Live Nation and Rob wanted to they could prob launch a fresh Bestival event.
priest17
I got an e-mail the same second that tweet came through but alas the two were nothing to do with each other. Congrats anyone that won and yes, I will take that spare Elbow ticket off your hands.
CaledonianGonzo
lmao I've won tickets to see Ash. I wonder if they'll do the one where they list a load of Far Eastern stereotypes.
finn_with_1_n
That first clue leads to KT Tunstall (I think) - from her song 'Suddenly I See'

While I'm all for calling out the right things, it's more a roll call of pop culture references that stereotypes innit? Possible bias as I absolutely love that song I'll concede
CaledonianGonzo
Donald Trump "Kung Flu"-ass lyrics. (I may be wrong, but I dunno if anyone's really bothered by it)

It's certainly not getting cancelled from my collection just because Calgon's a leftie apologist woke soyboy libtard (am I saying that right?)
