That sphere looks mental and they want to build one in London

https://london.msg.com/our-plans/

They're a bit more down the road than that, given that plans are advancing through the development roster and could go ahead soon if the Mayor of London says yes after local area approval: London's MSG Sphere venue plans advance despite local objections (nme.com)

Feel like I'd rather have more smaller venues built given the rate they've been closing. Even if this one is planning to include a 1,500 venue as part of its plans.

Residency announcing

They must have found a new sticks player, given Larry Mullen Jr says he needs a few surgeries and will be sitting out planned 2023 tour shows.

As far as the sphere thing goes, I remember U2's Zoo TV tour in 1992/93 with a fuck-ton of screens as a satire of media overload, so quite funny that 30 years or so on, they're opening the literal overload arena.

No timetable given on larrys recovery so he is likely fine by the fall.

Unsurprising given they had to drop out of 2022 but still great news

Live is pretty surprising i'd say given the very short gap and how we have about 5 other headliners

Can’t see Chems back unless it’s a DJ set.

They’ve literally released one song since their last set.

(I know a new album is rumoured, but nothing has materialised thus far).

Yeah it’s surely gonna be the DJ set they cancelled last year. As you say, no real reason for them to be back so soon headlining Other - even next year feels a touch too soon, although is what I’m expecting.

Its very much coming, they were playing new songs all of last summer and they first dropped at dj sets over a year ago just haven't released anything yet.

not really sure what their plan is atm, this is their 3rd summer coming up touring before their album release in a row its just a bit strange.

They said re printworks last year that theres no more dj sets for a long time or something similar also

    • Sun's out today. Can feel the hills calling. Time to ramp up the energy levels. I've been easing my way in gently the last 2 weeks with the likes of Hayley and Lael Neale and Cut Worms and Maria Somerville etc. Time to unleash some Shame, Mogwai, Place to Bury Strangers and especially Wednesday and Mannequin Pussy.  Also, just back from a brilliant night in Belfast at the Fleadh Ceoil so anything with a fiddle or a whistle or a squeeze box is drawing me like the Sirens. Madra Salach with the volume up. COME ON!!
    • My Orange car park ticket turned up today. The envelope looked like some kind of junk mail offering me a loan so I nearly didn't open it!
    • There is a bunch of TBC acts on Deftones day, according to APE insta. The obvious guesses are Fiddlehead, Nothing, Dynamite and Make Way, "Outbreak" artists playing the night before. The question is more about how are they are gonna fit in on three big stages.    is
    • SURELY Reel Big Fish will be here?
    • Sam Fender, Harry Styles, Sabrina Carpenter is a very bland set of headliners. Commercially successful and makes plenty of sense, but it wouldn't be very inspirising. That said I want a band like Green Day to headline so who am I to say what exciting is.
