It's just the other side of the adrenaline cycle. At some point you need to recuperate. I was dozing in the Healing Fields in 2015 and a group of three girls behind me loudly pondered why anyone would come to Glastonbury only to sleep. I felt like turning around and asking why anyone would come there to make snide remarks towards other people but I let it go.

Will be arriving between 8-9am luckily I live only 20miles from site and fairly ok traffic most years from my way, touch wood. Set up camp in darbles by 9.30,get to know neighbours etc then off for a sleep(lame I know but I'm working till midnight the night before) then spend late afternoon/evening bimbling along and hopefully get to efest/solo meets :) any more news on these?

That wasn't very nice.  You did the right thing ignoring them. Sometimes it's not worth it.

I totally get that sometimes an impromptu snooze is needed, if you're in a suitable place.   I'm just impressed that some people are planning a nap on day one in advance.  Although I expect these folk will still be going when I'm passed out in my tent :)

The correct reply would have been "Because im on fookin smack and i can't move cos Ive just shat myself after vomming where you three wkd drinking fookwits are now sat so pish oaf."

At T in the park they'd totally understand, at Glasto I'm not too sure.

its the first of my three shifts until 4pm that day. So end of shift means a beer at staff camping a round up of who wants to go onto site and then wander with beers, ciders and camera. Then follow my nose, watch the fireworks and ensure always beer in hand. It'll be a late one as can't do much on the Thursday due to afternoon shift.

10am coach so I'm guessing arriving somewhere around 2pm. By the time I've got in, located camp, pitched then tent and said hello to the neighbours I'm planning a sit down in the sunshine with something relaxing by 4pm. Alao going to start thinking about what to call @Woffy and @SwedgeAntilles when I see them.

Off to the lockups to check in the important stuff, wander out and get some food before the efests meet. After that we shall see!

At some point I have absolutely no doubt that I'll be sat somewhere questioning my life choices.

Hopefully coach arrives around 11am, head to Rivermead and meet some of our other crew. Set up tents in the perfectly conditioned grass, whack some cider in a bag and have a wander...firstly showing my newbie friend the view from the hill, but also want to check out the woods (as didn't make it last yr) and figure out where the naked sauna and the stone dragon are and where the irish guys are building the piano bar. Then the efests meet, followed by the veggie chilli in the park...yum! The first year on the weds night after it got dark i think i remember sitting up by the stone circle or maybe the glasto sign with my mates chatting to randoms. It was lush...so hopefully more of that!

Getting absolutely no sleep as I just lay there wriggling in bed all night with excitement, up early for my 6:30am coach from Bristol. Hoping to be set up in Big Ground by 10/11am, then wait around with a few beers for the rest of the group to arrive and set up. Then down to the cider bus for 2/3 pints. Then just letting the newbie girlfriend wander around and discover it for herself with me in tow, although I'll steer her in the direction of the Park/Stone Circle for sunset to pick up on that electric atmosphere.

Probably arriving a little later than usual (but hopefully not as late as last year with the traffic) and set up camp atound lunch time. Have a little bimble with our first timer and hit a few bars on the way around. Deluxe Diner for 6pm - our first time there! Then off to see the fireworks followed by an early (ish) night!

There's not many of you coming to the eFests meet.

It's funny, I thought I was the only one too introvert to relish going to the eFests meet, but hearing how many other peeps are a bit fazed by the prospect of it makes me feel much happier about going along! Ta you all, see you there! :)

Is there a thread or some information about this meet? I'm a bit hesitant about going since its my first glasto whilst being active here.

Yep here, and although the time & place aren't yet confirmed by Neil, it'll most likely be at the Ridge & Furrow bar in the cabaret field at 6PM on the Wednesday (TBC!):

Trying to catch the fireworks for the first time in three attempts. Managed to catch them from one of the car parks last year due to the traffic chaos.

Ha this! I've been 8 times and never seen the bloody fireworks...

Our coach is at 9am from London, an hour later than when we last went in 2015, and I think we got there around 1-2 last time. We will probably camp around Bushey again, take our time getting set up and go for a wander. Tradition dictates a pint of Brothers and some greasy tempura noodles from West Holts (bloody love them). Then off to cider bus probably and see where the night takes us... maybe brave the meet. But probably not...

Last year was my eighth visit too and the first time i've actually managed to see the fireworks properly, did see them from afar in 2015 but last year was proper, really made a good start to things for me.

Does anybody actually ever go to the meets? See loads of posts about people being too scared to go (which i totally understand by the way)!

wake up early in CV East (i cant help myself..). A cup of tea and a wander to the hill of death to have one last look at the empty site.. Watch the masses trudge through from the car parks around 7am.. watching the faces of those seeing the view for the first time..

Wait for my wife and (2nd) daughter to arrive in the car.. (eldest & boyfriend travel with me on Tuesday) and go through the gates mid afternoon for a bimble and a few beers..

Wednesday evening is chilli and red wine night..

How do you manage to hold back until mid afternoon to go in! I'm pushing the masses in the van to get ready ASAP as i'm itching to get in their ASAP. Never get in as early as i want though  with 2 toddlers and 2 ladies to get ready as well as myself

Midnight coach from Liverpool due to get in about half 5 on Wednesday morn. Never got to Gate A before 8 before so no idea what to expect.

Tents up in Darble then probs get some breakfast to help the first cider go down nicely. Family coming along as first timers so will spend the day exploring with them then the plan is to watch fireworks but that's only ever happened watching from the tent til now so we'll see

When we got the coach a couple of years back we were at gate A about 7.30, short wait for the queue to start moving and were in with wristband, programme and of course the bag by 9:)

planning a nap on day one

It's not planned, I just wake up in the stone circle at some point on Wednesday, shave my tongue and take the grass out of all the orifices that my lovely friends have decided should be filled.

Pacing about the house until it's time to leave. Bus to Liverpool to catch the 12:00 coach. Hopefully arrive on site at around 18:00, thanks to a wonderful offer from a true gentleman of this parish, I should be arriving to a fully erected tent. Unpack, pump up the airbed, put up the flag and head to the meet.

Not having to worry about finding a space and setting up the tent has made me feel a lot better about the later coach.

Catching the 9:15am bus from Taunton, should arrive at the gate around 11am. We're camping with friends in T&C who will already have all of our gear and the tent will be up (no walk of death for the first time ever!!) so it's a question of how long the queues are which will determine at what time the party starts!

Normally we would drive through the night and be in the queue around 5am. This year I will be there on the Monday and have no idea what the Wednesday looks like until I get my shifts from Fest Staff. I'm hoping to work Wednesday morning as I think it'll be great seeing how excited everyone is getting in and I can go and sit by the sign and have a few beers in the evening and count marriage proposals, saw about 6 last year in the space of 3 hours! I love the buzz up there on the Wednesday :)

Wake up in hotel in Street. Leisurely breakfast and check out. Bus to Glastonbury town. Then either wait for the shuttle bus or, if there's reports of bad traffic, a coffee/pint in town before the shuttle bus. Once inside, set up my tent then find mates' camp and go for a wander.

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
