Nothing would make me happier than R.E.M but sadly I believe that Peter Buck is playing live in the U.S over the weekend. Sorry to be the crusher of dreams.

Yes, he's touring with Alejandro Escovedo, sadly absolutely no chance of R.E.M. at Glastonbury.

They said they stopped as they grew to hate the music business. Don't think they've changed their minds, judging by everything they've said since.

I cant see the secret relating to any surprise band now.

After the line up, I dont think it's an artist. I think the big secret is probably the new area between the Other / Greenpeace? There is no mention of it on the line up so far and it's not on the map yet, which is strange and makes it seem like something special is happening there. Depending on the size of the new area there could still be more than a few decent sized acts to come.

I'm gonna tell you all where I am at, bored to fuck with waiting !

That said, I'm out !

Until something interesting happens of course.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to agree with Franky, some of the ideas are so far fetched you must be out of your mind.

I'm out!

Not only did he not headline but he's also a producer of music in his own right. He just doesn't play other people's records.

If it is 'just' Annie Mac, I think it's a very lazy booking, for a headliner.

of the few times I've seen Fatboy Slim over the last few years, he's played 95% other people's music (and really shit music at that).

Annie Mac plays lots of tripe but is still far better than Fatboy Slim in this day and age. as said, she was probably subbing and got bumped up. if she wasn't clashing with Dizzee Rascal and Major Lazer, I'd say the tent would be full for her.

What? Where? Where the Glade is? Or where the recharge tent / camping field is?

No they're not, in a million years, and I bloody love the National!

Go look at 2016 head & subs for both stages. Even down to 3rd. The national aren't anywhere remotely as known as any of those acts.

For Pyramid : Muse, foals, Adele, tame impala, Coldplay, beck.

Other: Bastille, disclosure, new order, churches, LCD, PJ Harvey.

bands that played 3rd down included 1975, bring me horizon, catfish, Ellie Goulding, zz top & last shadow puppets. All generally radio 1/2 (6at a push) fodder popular amongst average music listeners. The national are great but are fairly obscure & unknown amongst the Pyramid / other type crowd.

Nah I wouldn't read too much into the poster mate. 2 big stages + first 6 names on poster doesn't = head + sub for the 3 nights.  The national are afternoon / early evening filler, 3rd from top at best.

LOL

It's a cool idea, but why? Why keep an area of that size a secret and not just announce it/add it to the map?

    • Thing is it depends on what the issues are - building a bigger stage would likely bring the Pyramid up to the relatively standard 20x20 space for "on stage" production which does make it easier for touring setups. But if for example she wants big / complex extensions going out in the field (such as she had in Rio) that would remain just as awkward to achieve without massively disrupting the rest of the day or potentially even weekend.
    • A month or so before any ballot a group of up to six is registered and a lead booker named.  That gives see tickets time to check if any individual’s registration, post code  and details appears more than once on different groups and removed then on ticket allocation day tickets the groups are just randomly balloted.  It’s felt like a ballot in the last few years, just sitting staring at the dreaded two lines, glancing nervously at the clock as time passes. Maybe the f5 refresh gave you the sense that you were actually doing something 😊
    • or can we just have Metallica back please 😄
    • Feel Stevie Wonder should be in the conversation as a random Michael Eavis headliner ala Neil Young last year.... If we did get a M.E pick for one of the headliner slots, who else would be in the mix do we think? Cher? Rolling Stones? Nicks/Fleetwood?
    • That interview was long enough ago for Madonna to have been offered a 3rd BST to say no to Glastonbury and Olivia Dean to have been asked.
