2019 Headliners

First off, Craig David was completely ace last year and perfectly placed. Anyone who was there and didn’t enjoy getting caught up in all that on a sunny Sunday afternoon was a miserable killjoy.

Second, I’m really torn on Pi!k. She’s commercially successful enough to headline but I have to agree with Bradders, there’s something about her music that hasn’t quite broken through in the same way as Gaga, let alone Swift or Madonna. It feel unfair to say because, defying many here, she effortlessly sold out multiple dates at Wembley Stadium. She’s clearly got a huge fan base and a back catalogue full of hits, but it’d just feel odd to have her headline. I don’t know. Can’t really explain it more than that.

I think for the average person Pink, Gaga, Madonna and Swift are all just artists with catchy pop tunes. It's only dorks like us that look that closely in to their music.

And even a dork like me can't see much of a difference between pink and the likes of Madonna, Swift, Gaga.

Pop shite as far as I am concerned. The idea that one would headline over the other due to some sort of musical validity is frankly absurd.

I actually liked M People before they were hi-jacked by the beige brigade. Had a few club bangers with quality Sasha remixes.

Pink is just more an entertainer than a musician. She's just got her image as "I'm a badass nonconformist" which is completely superficial, she trades in pretty standard formulaic pop songs, and her live shows are completely reliant on big expensive stunts. Glastonbury has never really had a headliner like that, but they did have Katy Perry who fits almost exactly into the same mould.

Can't disagree with this, and I'd love to see Pink. However, she pisses on Katy Perry. Far, far better voice and performer, and a better back catalogue.

I agree I can't see her headlining at all, but I do think she'd be a good addition to The Pyramid somewhere down the bill. Whether she'd do that or not is a different story.

Yeah I'd rather listen to Pink than Katy Perry, or Gaga, or even Madonna personally. I like the guitary edge to a lot of her stuff. I still think she won't headline, and if she's not headlining then she won't be able to bring her stage-show, and unless she agrees to play a few slots down and do a more conventional stripped-down 'just the music' performance, then I really can't see her playing four/five nights in a row in order to be there

She has just in a stroke proven that she doesn't need the exposure!

Pink would have to sub but wouldn't be given headline, she has sold a shed load of tickets but she didn't sell out V Festival last year. It's very much one of those sell for own fans but on a festival stage she struggles on a day.

No way Nelly doesn't play on the Sunday, would be uproar amongst the locals if Eavis books him and slots him elsewhere.

It’s gonna be the best BRIT awards ever next year.

Just thinking we should ask Neil @eFestivals can he increase the reps for that night. You always run out of uppies in no time on Brit night. Think how many will need for Mark @Quarks input alone.

You lot are way more receptive to my shit jokes than Mrs Q. I came here for the music and stayed for the validation.

Pink doesn't do more than 2 nights in a row anywhere, even in the same city (9 nights in Melbourne, no more than 2 consecutively).

she's not doing 5 in a row to play Glastonbury.

she will not be at Glastonbury.

FIN

I'm sure it's just a coincidence that battleborn comes back just as people stop biting at jj's nonsense.
