Aye could go either way that as Sheeran and the Foos etc (not to mention Adele) still played even though they had Wembley/stadium shows and others like ACDC or the Roses wouldn't do it cos they wanted the £££. Still leaves us with no clue.

If true then at least we'll know she's active this summer, which means she's in contention.

Yeah certainly is enough to include her in the discussion, suppose it just depends if her asking price is too much.

Whats the general feeling on Madge in terms of interest?

Personally I couldn't think of anyone worse but am I in the minority?

I wouldn't pay the huge prices she charges for her own gigs but I would definitely see her at Glastonbury. She's the god damn queen of pop!

A trio of Stormzy - Madge - Cure suddenly looks much better.

Only a handful of big artists remaining yet to appear on that stage. She’s near the top of that small list. If she fancies it, can rinse the field.

I'd love to see Madge there but she may have priced herself out. Would assume she would do a hits based set rather than her usual new stuff she has been doing recently.

I seen her for free at Murrayfield in 2012(?) when the promoter cocked up by releasing a link for competition winners to everyone. I snapped up 3 free tickets and drove up to Edinburgh for a free gig. She was great to be fair to her but she did play a lot of new stuff (at that time) and a lot of her hits were all mashed up or little snippets. If she did a full hits based set she would go down a storm.

I'd be delighted. An absolute bucketful of great tunes and a nicely evolved career that never really stood still. A true pop icon for me.

My housemate declined my invitation to join our Glastonbury crew. He'll be crying into his cornflakes with Vogue on repeat if she gets announced

I wonder if Emily's "oh we've got a couple of lads" was phrased that way because a couple of the three headlines are male acts, but the other is female. It would only really make sense to phrase it like that if the female act was HUGE....like Madonna sized huge. But I can't keep up as to a) if we think whoever the third act is is replacing Maca or if he was near booked all along and b) when Emily made the "couple of lads comments". If it was way before she said Madonna wasn't booked then it doesn't make sense....does it? Fuck knows, my brain hurts.

Personally, although I have no great love for Madonna, I would 100% go and see her. Probably wouldn't see the Cure, and definitely wouldn't see the Strokes. Even writing it feels wrong though. Like she's too big or some shit (and ruled out by Emily, or not, I can't remember and like I said, my brain hurts)

Based on the fact that this thread now has a tendency to be dominated by a different specific artist each day, can I suggest that the first poster of the day start their post like Jesse from The Fast Show.by saying "Today I will mainly be speculating about "enter artist of choice"

Why are you so obsessed with The Cure not headlining? Bare weird.

Not meaning to sound weird, just personally not a big fan of them and IMO it's an uninspiring headline booking. The same with The Strokes (if it does end up being those). Of course the usual caveat applies that it doesn't matter too much regardless, as there's always other options to choose from. Incidently it's also my best mates Glasto debut this year, and it would have been great for him to see a Pyramid headline act for one of the nights (we have similar music tastes).

I couldn't think of a better booking.

Genuine legend, with a huge back catalogue, who I've never seen live and never will unless she plays the festival. For me that's the best type of headliner, if it's someone I'd actually pay to see then I'd rather go to their own show.

This! And a booking I can 100% get on board with - can't word that any better myself!

I've seen Madonna on the MDNA and Rebel Heart tour. Granted, she does do about 30% new songs on her headline tours, she curates the setlist in a way where you never feel bored. Her stage show/production is second to none and she almost always breaks out at least a couple rare tracks. Below is the setlist from her most recent (2015-2016) tour...

  1. "Iconic"
  2. "Bitch I'm Madonna"
  3. "Burning Up"
  4. "Holy Water" (contains excerpts from "Vogue")
  5. "Devil Pray"
  6. "Messiah" (video interlude)
  7. "Body Shop"
  8. "True Blue"
  9. "Deeper and Deeper"
  10. "HeartBreakCity" (contains excerpts from "Love Don't Live Here Anymore")
  11. "Like a Virgin" (contains elements of "Heartbeat" and "Erotica")
  12. "S.E.X." (video interlude) (contains elements of "Justify My Love")
  13. "Living for Love"
  14. "La Isla Bonita"
  15. "Dress You Up" / "Into the Groove" / "Lucky Star" / "Dress You Up" (Reprise)
  16. "Who's That Girl"
  17. "Rebel Heart"
  18. "Illuminati" (video interlude)
  19. "Music" (contains elements of "Give It 2 Me")
  20. "Candy Shop"
  21. "Material Girl"
  22. "La Vie en rose"
  23. "Unapologetic Bitch"
Encore
  1. "Holiday" (contains elements of "Take Me to the Mardi Gras")

    • Let's hope you're right - having secret set by Olivia Rodrigo would be huge. It might even overshadow the Thursday trainwreck.   We'll see in a couple of hours.
    • Yet again we’re missing the WH Sunday reggae slot
    • Occident has got larger over the years and there's relatively little overlap with mbv and OR fans that I think it would work fine as it would divide the crowd so effectively.   They don't even need to give the biggest stage from an optics perspective either, this would be billed as a secret short set and used to promote her new album.
    • Really like this! Few artists a bit low I reckon like the Reytons, Yard Act, the Royston Club and Florence Road but I’d absolutely take this!
    • Yeah Olivia Rodrigo walked right past me when leaving the crowd during The Cure set.   I had to escape where I was in the crowd so was just chilling in the bottom left corner when she walked through with a couple of others.    Thought it was her or someone who looked incredibly like her but no-one else seemed to pick up on it, either not bothered or just too engrossed in their own conversations to not notice..
