2019 Headliners

I had a bit of a rant a week or so ago about how Gaga wasn’t really headliner material these days, but I have to admit I’m coming round to the idea.

Rather her than Arctic Monkeys at any rate.

If it's Macca, Gaga and The Hungry Hungry Caterpillar then I could be looking at The Pyramid Treble for the first time in aeons.

I havent seen a headliner since 2014. As much as it isn't all about the headliners, there is also something special about watching a pyramid headliner. I want to see one in 2019

Same. which would be upsetting if there is something I really want to see on WH.

Macca is a must see, and I’d certainly be intrigued to watch some of Gaga. It wouldn’t take much elsewhere to drag me away from The Cure as I’ve seen them fairly recently.

Any day now I'm anticipating an extra Macca date in Badiddlyboing, Idaho to bring down Maxwell's Silver Hammer on his Pyramid chances. The closing up of The Cure's dates has got me pretty wary.

Same for me, except I last saw The Cure in 86, and they didn’t do much for me then. I’m still not convinced they’re going to be there - they just don’t feel like the sort of act that gets booked for that slot to me.

I saw 8 of the first 12 Pyramid headliners I could watch.

I havent seen any of the last 9... I would be all in on Macca, but recent live videos put me off.

Yeah, once you start seeing acts away from the Pyramid you tend to stay away. In 2016 I ended up not seeing a single act at the main stage.

Edit: Having said that, I saw loads in 2017, including one headliner.

I’ve ended up seeing the last eight consecutive Pyramid headliners, some great, some duffers.

Suede in 2015 was the last time I didn’t watch one.

From a purely selfish perspective I’d welcome the Mac over the Macca. Seen McCartney before and seeing him again in December, whereas I’ve never seen FM.

My guess would be Sunday. He’ll be flying back from the US on the Thursday, give him as long as possible to get over the jet lag.

Fits the bill for the super Sunday sing a long Pyramid party too.

If it’s AM, The Cure and Macca, it’s possible I won’t bother with the Pyramid at all. Only Macca could sway me. 

I really don’t think it’s going to be that trio, though.

The setlist posted earlier seems fun but I kinda feel like Glastonbury deserves better than this iteration of the Mac. Maybe the best chance of getting them in Glastonbury's price range, of course.

I'd say Saturday instead, as I don't feel that The Cure are especially likely to book b2b headline dates in different countries. Either way, probably not Friday.

If it's The Cure, Paul McCartney and Gaga/Madonna I'd be tempted to be there every night but I just can't see it. Could still be in for the first two though, but does depend who else is playing. I tend to average one pyramid headliner per festival I think.

Eight? Why so many? Did you really think the best the festival had to offer every night for the past few years was on the Pyramid? Every night?

A good Pyramid headliner is a wonderful thing. But so's one at W Holts. And t'Other. And The Park. And (presumably) JPT and other places.
