He said no on FBk yesterday when asked after putting his Summer dates up.

Nobody replied to his calls apparently :(

edit - Beaten to it by Stuwilky!

He'll have to write something similar to Bean on Toast's Glastonbury no-show song...

A bit meh for me tbh after last year, but still a number of performances I'll go to there at both the Cafe and the Stage. No Dreadzone! Where are they playing this year......

Funny isn't it - at this time of year when the line ups come out I always say "I'll go to this; I'll go to that". But when I'm finally there its clash city and its more like "I'll have to sacrifice this; I'll have to sack off that". Coupled with the disorganisation that alcohol brings, I'll be lucky to get in 20-22 performances across the whole site for the weekend.

That would be hugely optimistic for me! 12-15 tops.

I am lucky if I get 10 acts in over the weekend,

This is a good line up for me. Decided not to worry about clashes until the stage times for all venues are out. Just doing my harsh rating system of 1-5 and then hoping to see as many 5's as possible.

At 1st glance there's no 5's at Avalon but some very high 4's.

I know very little on there, but after finding the Destroyers on youtube - they look like an act I will definitely try to catch.

What I like about the Avalon is there is generally nothing / very little I know, but I see something worth catching out of the blue.

Shame she'll probably be a headliner as id love to see Corinne Bailey Rae. Not much else for me there, although Will Young would be great...

I selfishly hope she isn't headlining to be honest, it's looking like clashes are already starting to pile up. One of my best memories of 2010 was seeing her on the pyramid in the afternoon sun. She just looked like she was having the best time. She also turned up at Croissant Neuf that year too so there is maybe a possibility of a repeat?

All in all, I'm pretty happy with that line up.:)

Shaun.

Between here and acoustic is where I seem to spend most of my time.

Not going this year but if I was then I would look to see

Beans on Toast

Hobo's

Destroyers

Show of Hands

Definites would be Edward II and Drystones (two lovely lads and great musicians)

Going to Bearded Theory so a lot of these will be there,

    • They will have strictly 14 days to comply, at the end of which they will strictly have another 14 days to comply.
    • Bonobo has a new album out in September.  Touring the US the end of this year, so hopefully UK dates and festivals in 2027.  Would make a superb Park headliner.
    • I was following up to pink_triangle's post about what Reform are saying they will do to find money for defence spending.   But with Labour, they may well water down or delay some of the net zero commitments, they may find ways to cut welfare spending with Pat McFadden's welfare review thing, but I don't think it's going to be near enough. They really tied themselves down with the tax commitments in their manifesto, just reversing Hunt's NI cuts would have gone a long way. Under Burnham I think they may try and reform some of the tax system, land taxes and levies etc. Certainly needs reforming. But that might all be after a general election if Labour were to win.  I reckon they will try and do something with fiscal rules to borrow more, and try and persuade markets to go along with them.  (and he's already rowed back on that waspi thing...I think his team and others in Labour had a word).
    • Feels like Leeds getting axed is just a matter of time now, and to be honest, it might be the only way to save Reading. The whole twin-site format just feels proper dated and way too expensive to run nowadays. If they scrapped Leeds and focused entirely on Reading, turning it into a proper London-adjacent day-trip fest for the younger crowd like All Points East or Wireless, it would actually make sense financially. But yeah, for the old-school rock crowd, the R&L era is completely dead and buried.
