the first time I've opened this year's weather thread and just like every other year it's full of doom and gloom.

FFS!

Just done the same mate.

honestly everyone, playing the odds, majority of years I've been have been decent (little rain, little mud, little sun) with a few belters (mostly sun) and 1 or 2 have been hard work (2005).

Barring a proper storm & 4 day rain fall, which is very unlikely, then it will be fine.

I'm also very lucky to have won my tickets so I'm on a roll and it will be banging again this year.

and if you want a tiny shred of optimism, last time England played (assuming they clear the group stages) in a major tournament during Glasto was 2010, the greatest weather year in recent memory!!

so by my logic it will be bastarding hot!!

Generally, being the weather obsessive that I am, I have found that the most spot on forecast ahead is yr.no, but then for short range and on the day, acciweather tends to generally be spot on.

For now accuweather is saying 4mm of rain for all weekend which i could definetly live with...

I used to be concerend when I saw the word shower on a forecast. Then I learned in forecasting terms a shower is when there is rain but you can still see at least a patch of the sky, it made me a hell of a lot less worried. So anything that says "sun with a shower" I can happily take as a bit of dust management.

Keep the faith people, blue sky all around.

There should be a Weather Thingy where someone keeps track of the long range forecast each week and then compares it to the actual weather at the festival to see how accurate these predictions are!

I would like a weather thingy to tell me what the weather was like historically on the weekends before and after the last weekend in June. If this proved my theory that it doesn't normally rain on these weekends I would use the evidence to ask Michael and Emily nicely if they would change the date so it's less muddy.

Thanks to Facebook, I've been reminded that 2 years ago today,we had a massive rain storm - with the road outside looking like a canal.

Then we had the same on Friday at the festival.

I think there IS a pattern - no thunderstorm this year

They can't even predict the weather accurately for a week ahead unless it's a dominating high pressure so I take monthly predictions with a pinch of salt.

It has rained at least once 7 out of 8 times I have been there, we all hope for a 2010 again but the odds are in favour of rain and it doesn't really matter anyway because everyone still has a great time rain or shine and they always want to come back for more.

Was that the 5 days of scorching heat? Because no we don't!

Accuweather's current prediction of quite sunny with some clouds is ideal to me. Though I'm sure it'll be something completely different next week and then again the week after...

Sunny and cloudy is perfect. Scorching weather is amazing if you have a pool to hand lol but for a festival need a wee bit of cloud to break the sun up. Don't even mind a bit of rain so we can jump in the mud then the sun can dry it up :)

Metcheck are showing rain now (some severe) Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Accuweather are showing rain Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Rain also forecast for over half of the days now leading up to the festival.

Looks really, really bad.

Nobody knows what the weather will be like on any particular day past about 10 days, I wouldn't worry yet! General trend forecast by the met office is for it to become more like normal June weather, unsettled the further North and West you go but more settled and warm further South East. Still all to play for at the moment!

I remember watching a program where they were speaking to the person in charge of the Met Office and they readily admitted that anything past 4 days is pure "educated" guesswork and they would never put money on it if challenged.

So I wouldnt worry too much what they are saying will be happening in 3 weeks time!

22/23 degrees and sunny for the last few days here on the west coast of Ireland really makes me hope the sun shines for this. It'll still be another 2 weeks before I even to pay attention to Glastonbury forecasts though.
