First time in years I've noticed the winning person or song (last person I remember was Leona Lewis) but it really is a fucking terrible version of one of Bobs more heartfelt tunes.

I've got no strong opinion of it, despite often shouting out for Planet Waves as an unfairly neglected gem. Tracks like Dirge and Wedding Song often get overlooked.

Adele announced North America dates all throughout the summer/autumn, starting July 5th.

all arenas, no outdoor gigs that I can see. 6 nights at both the Staples Center and MSG when presumably a few larger outdoor gigs would be preferable.

Yup, I'd say that confirms it.

I've been giving this Adele headlining mularky some thought. I hope she doesn't do it just on the purely selfish basis that I want someone I like to headline instead, but I was wondering if someone performing ballad after ballad with one or two uptempo numbers thrown in (the opposite to most acts) would keep many non-fans there.

The nearest I could think of that I've enjoyed would be Elbow. There recent sets were almost all slower stuff yet I enjoyed them immensely, the first time I saw them (2011), I wasn't a fan and they converted me. I'd be a happy camper if they headlined yet many are bored to tears by them.

Maybe Adele delivering a 90 minute whingefest could be successful? Dull for none fans, maybe win a few over but successful all the same.

I think The Sun will be backtracking their story after that then. Can't think of any reason why she won't do Glastonbury now with them dates.

pro: she's not going to the US until 2 weeks after Glastonbury

con: she's not doing outdoor gigs even after a potential Glastonbury appearance.

 

for someone with a small child who doesn't like touring, dragging out the tour for 4 months when you could do it in 2 playing bigger outdoor gigs seems odd. why do 6 nights in two different 20k arenas when she could be doing 80k stadiums in the summer?

Maybe the monies is more by doing the 4 months gigs. Although maybe she would get more for massive stadium gigs. My guess is it'd be down to the money for how the tour is structured.

I think Adele has so much fucking money she can pretty much do what she likes.

She might think 'smaller' arenas suit her music more. She certainly must be aware of that herself.

Which leaves G16 as a one off mahoosive gig. Box ticketed on the bucket list.

 

*Although I'm obliged to stick with my increasingly wrong looking prediction she'll play a non-headline spot as 'fourth headliner'.

so looks like the Saturday night dirgefest has been booked then. Shame for me, but I am aware I am in the minority who thinks she is shit so at least for me it means I can explore the fest or the naughty corner for the evening and give Adele a miss.

i'd see it more as her clearly not wanting to do large outdoor gigs whatsoever, so she'll choose not to do Glastonbury.

maybe so, but if she was ever to let that fear go just once and do an outdoor gig, then Glastonbury is definitely the one to do you'd have thought. she's been to and played the festival previously so maybe it's an opportunity she feels she can't let pass by
