ClementsMike
I know Rihanna is big, but Glastonbury big? I cant see it. Id have thought shes no bigger than Pharrell, who was content(?) to sub. I could see her subbing, and then guesting with Coldplay, but not headlining if they have Adele booked. Alan_C
Well Arcade Fire and Metallica were deemed 'Glastonbury big' (rightly so). Rihanna would get a bigger crowd than both.
Mezhyp1
Isn't Rihanna the biggest pop star in the world? She's absolutely everywhere, I'd say if they were booking a big pop name, there's no bigger

I can't see Pharell selling out wembley etc which Rhianna will. She is probably the biggest female pops star currently around. If she plays she will headline. CaledonianGonzo
In terms of records shifted, Rihanna sits in the same bracket as Queen, AC/DC and the Stones. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_music_artists
Alan_C
Imagine the uproar in some places if Adele and Rihanna both headlined. 'OMG TWO FEMALE HEADLINERS'.

Spindles
Adele is about the perfect choice for headliner, imo. She is at the top of her game, a global name, British, female and would genuinely view the performance as something huge in her career. If she is bookable they'd be mad not to. Katy Perry is probably bigger than RiRi worldwide too, although maybe not in this country. Edited November 24, 2015 by Zac Quinn

Dukeicon
Festival booker Martin Elbourne told Loaded the possibility of the crowd-shy singer headlining at Worthy Farm is looking increasingly likely. “There’s lots of talk about Adele and it’s in there in the mix,” Elbourne said. “Adele is in a situation in her career where frankly she can do whatever the hell she likes. Hopefully it will happen and it still needs confirmed. She’s not into festivals but obviously, every promoter in the world wants to get her so fingers crossed, we are hoping it’s going to happen.” Martin Elbourne admitting, “We are going to put Grimes on… we just have to figure out where.” Source: http://loaded.co.uk/adele-is-in-the-mix-for-a-glastonbury-headline-spot/

ClementsMike
I guess Adlele can do just what she wants, which probably includes not doing what she wants as well. Most artists need the tours and festivals to make the money, but she doesnt have that hassle. This new album is breaking all records and is tightly controlled with no streaming to ensure maximum income. It'll be interesting to see how it pans out with her and doing ANYTHING live. eFestivals
Well, that defo confirms what I'd been hearing, that it was what they were trying to do... it's now all down to whether Adele is willing to do it. Hmmmm ... could this be an agent keeping a booking request hanging, because for all the while the option is still open there's still a chance of him getting a payday? It wouldn't be the first time if it was. I'm still of the opinion that she's more likely to do it than not.

No doubt she is a mega-selling artist, but I couldn't name a single song of hers apart from umbrella, let alone hum one. Somehow, nearly everything she's done has passed me by, and I've not been making an effort to avoid her or anything.
Matt42
http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6776941/adele-breaks-album-sales-record-single-week-nsync Adele is on course to win the title of the fast selling album of all time ever. She's already broken the record in the US, breaking N-Sync's record of 2.4m in only three days also looks like she's gonna take the record from oasis in the UK too http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-34898836 So yeah, she's making history - fastest selling album of all time ever, a record that will probably never be broken ever again. She's a headliner, and if Glastonbury got her she's going to be looked back as almost equal to that of the Stones etc. She's the most popular artist of this generation. Gucci Piggy
Please stop saying "of all time ever". "Of all time" and "ever" both mean the same thing. And she won't be looked back on the same as the Stones, regardless of how big she is. The Stones are one of most influential, critically acclaimed bands of all time; Adele is nothing of the sort.
