Well, unfortunately they've become a bit too trendy which I think is why the London gig (and, no doubt, a Glastonbury set) would attract hoardes of hipster types so would likely dangerously over-fill the JPT. I still think a tent suits them better, though.

Yeh think you're right mate. I'm most definitely not the hipster type :D I suppose it depends who's on before and after them, I can't see an overhaul of hipsters being there for their slot. I only knew a handful of tunes when I saw them for the first time (Wolvo Civic) and it was honestly mind blowing. Someone else mentioned on here it may be difficult for them to pull off Pyramid and may be more suited to JP. I'd give anything to see that or OS Headliner.

We reading anything into "special guests"? Definitely a band or does it not mean anything?

I don't think it means anything really. You could have a solo artist headliner and anyone they bring on stage as their guest makes the whole thing "guests" rather than "guest".

So when do we think we're getting this? Will it definitely be June or after the resale has happened? I reckon some point in May. Really can't see them waiting until the month of the festival.

It's a tough one. I mean Metallica was done so that people could no longer go buy tickets to Glastonbury to see them so they had to buy Soni tickets. If we consider Blur with IOW then that could be after deadline too, but if they wanna sell out BST it'd have to be a little later to perhaps get some people with Glastonbury tickets already down to Hyde Park.

Great story. Look, I can't explain why a country/ pop "spillover" singer (her description) appeals to a fairly typical music fan in his fifties who has seen most major acts since the early 70s but she just blows me away. What I will tell you is I have very little solo female recordings in a huge music collection - lots of Joni Mitchell, Lana Del Rey and a tiny bit of Kylie and little else. There's something about TS that has made me buy and love all her albums and want to learn to play her songS just like I did with the Dead for donkeys years. It defies all logic but she has worked out how to pen simple but incredible songs that stand up as instant classics. They are going to be the Something and the God Only Knows of the current generation - that's how good I think they are.

Aye. I was wondering if there was an element of the wind up going on ( no offence Martin ) until Friday night !

Was down my local boozer and they had a heavy metal covers band playing to a big crowd of leather clad lads. Twas all hair and waistcoats ( apart from me ). About 10pm they took a break after belting through some big tunes ( some of which I knew ) to much banging of heads. As everyone shuffled out for a smoke that Swift tune about hatres gonna hate hate hate hate hate came over the PA and to a man and woman they joined in. All of them. They were loving it. Since Friday I have checked out a couple more of her tunes. They are catchy and pretty " fun ". She is the one thing my twin boys ( aged 9 ) want to see this year. Since I dragged then along to the Stones a couple of years back then it seems fair we stand together again in the field and this time watch their choice.

I`m in* !

* Bet she doesn`t play now :)

I'm still clutching at straws that it's because of Prince dates he hasn't announced yet. Have BST got any dates left to announce?

Edit - They did 6 last year and have only announced 5 so far this year. If they are to have anounce another headliner so close to the festival, surely it would have to be someone of Bowie's size to shift the tickets so quick?

Bands rarely 'nail' Pyramid sub slots though because people are waiting for the headline act. See Primal Scream, who were excellent on Other in 2011 yet pretty sub-standard on Pyramid in 2013.

I'd be a bit worried for 'em playing that high, but good exposure I guess and as you say they may do well! Who knows

I think Primal Scream in 2013 was due to Bobby Gillespie coming out dressed like a fucking flamingo and asking the crowd to throw him drugs up to the stage during the set, he was a fucking mess that day. Not as bad as Leeds 2003 though, he could hardly stand or speak that day and spent most of the sat on the drum riser.

Bobby's clean. Can't blame 2013 on the gypsy medicine.

That's probably why he spent most of the second half of the gig asking for it as he didn't have his own, at one point he asked if anyone had any smack and Valium

Yeah, was a massive disappointment that set. The previous festival they had absolutely killed it as other stage headliners, they were really tight as a band and the crowd were well into it (compared to the dullness of U2 on the other side of the farm). From the moment he walked onstage it was obviously going to be one of those days for him that sullies their live reputation.

I'm hoping they come back in the future and show what they are capable of.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
