It was Emily that told Scott that Flo wouldn't be headlining. Do sources get any better than that?

Any chances that it could be a case of 'true at the time' (e.g. Stevie Wonder in 2010)? This Florence/Prince situation is very reminiscent of last year.

A solo male artist with a backing band that has a new album out this year, made one of the biggest selling albums ever, been around for many years, never (as far as I am aware) played Glastonbury before... it must surely be Meat Loaf :)

(By this I am not necessarily suggesting I *want* it to be this, but one of his songs was on the radio and it occurred to me that he kind of fitted the loose description that Neil mentioned the other day so figured I might as well post something for the first time in about five years)

Personally I am hoping it will be Jeff Wayne (male "soloist") conducting his band with a rendition of "The War of the Worlds" and featuring David Bowie singing Justin Hayward's part of the journalist to round off the weekend with an epic musical.

something new.

And if his Flo source is where he's told me it is, it should be good. Then again, that person might not actually know and could be presuming - and given the general secrecy, I wouldn't be surprised.

After all, each person that gets told is another person who could leak it, and anyone who does get told is likely to tell at least one other person.

This was my thinking...also I guess it depends a lot on when exactly that information was passed on.

I can, too.

While I wouldn't say that rules him out entirely, it's lessened my thinking towards it being Prince.

Back to the drawing board.

Back to the drawing board for 'male solo artist with backing band' or is the drawing board now blank?

It's mad this year

Take the "never playing Glastonbury before" out of that sentence...... And it points to Ian Brown and his band :D

I'd expect something a little more rocky up against Kanye but think they'd work just as well up, maybe too well!

To avoid the inevitable backlash, they've tricked us into believing they were trying for somebody else (e.g. Prince) but had to settle for Florence instead .. When she has been booked all along!!

Touché Emily and co .... Touché.

If they really don't have a 3rd headliner yet, does that point to them missing out on all of their would be top choices to other festivals? You would guess Blur, Fleetwood Mac and possibly Prince? I'm just hoping its not Florence.

    • TVOD are playing Blue Basement in London 2/9 with a complete EOTR/Psych Fest shaped hole before their next gig in Lyon on 8/9. Well received in the Big Top last year, reckon they're nailed on for a secret set in the Tipi.
    • Didn't they widen the entrance last year to enable them to increase the number of pitches or have I imagined this? Perhaps they might return under a different form of glamping?
    • It should forever be the Tipi.   Just as the news about Geese was shared on Twitter.
    • It really surprised me that Rock AM Ring made Download feel like an extremely well organised festival with good communication in comparison. If we were to ever try either of them again we would go for IM Park and stop in Nuremberg.     Agree that the long thin mainstage isn't great, but where the mainstage is makes it really hard to navigate when it is busy because of that choke point created by the food vendors, bar/lounges with a view of main and where the crowd is coming form second stage. The concrete is hard on the joints. The front standing is a pisstake and the communication from the fest about what is happening on site other than which campsites are filling up leaves a lot to be desired. Car parks being a free for all doesn't help either.   I think it really suffers being so far from anything other than small towns/villages that lack proper public transport and Koblenz being the closest town which you can can use to get public transport to the fest being 60km away.
    • Yeah its absolutely on me that isn't think Shinia Twain was an awful choice- i get that.  Im still of the paul simon, ELO kind of thoughts but I realise things change. Im still intrigued what constitutes legend though. Robert plant played and he wasn't a legend slot- to me that would have fitted. Is it a ' comedy ' ' good time ' slot now? Comedy isn't the right word - guilty pleasure or something like that?
