Sorry, but that is utter shite. As someone who wrote for the NME in the 80s, I can assure you that he had godlike status.

ahh, part of the later crew. Perhaps that's why? :P

You and the tabloids, you've got a lot of crimes to answer for.

I get fed up of the worship, and point out that not everyone thinks he shits gold.

If that's too much for the worshippers that they can never accept that, it's them you need to be having a word with and not me. :)

Yes agreed, that applies to most artists though, not least Bruce and the Stone Roses in the last 20 pages.

You do seem to reserve a particular level of disgust for the purple one that I just don't follow. There have been numerous pop acts at Glastonbury that have barely warranted a comment from you.

Hmmm. Would I be getting the 'what they think of the music' answer, or the alternatively created answer that's mostly around MJ? :P

I know there's more to all of this than I'm saying, just as there's more to it than I'm responding against. It's what others are saying which is the lead for my responses.

They're talking mainstream. You're not.

I'm talking Prince. He has a 30 something year career to call on, some good some not so good. But he is and has been for many years one of the great live performers around. Anyone who saw him last year may have noticed that. Did you slag the stones off two years ago cos Beast of Burden and Steel Wheels weren't as good as the early stuff?

Reading the last 10-20 pages makes me realise how desperately we need this lineup.

Cabin fever all over the shop.

We were saying that 6 weeks ago!! One day ill get round to creating an efestivals headliner boom/bust circle.

No, my first piece was published in 1983 in the week that Hand in Glove was released, which had some bearing on why I got the gig.

Not that we didn't (frequently) think Prince was a little tosser at the NME -- but we thought that was a small price to pay for his amazing output in those days.

The National have just released a new (very unexpected) single on the online platforms. (/LsR1t7aZuP)

What do you all think to a possible Other Stage headline slot after they were snubbed last year?

It was all very confusing as to why they were not involved last year, after that very successful record. The band even commented on the matter at there roundhouse gig, saying they were annoyed.

What did they say? Impression I got was that they weren't wanted as headliners and were too big/expensive for any other slot (although they subbed Neil in Hyde Park).

    • yet in Brazil they spent the money to give her the staging so her show could be done just like in the arena. And Madonna does not compromise on that sort of thing. So money was def secondary if they got into the last phase of finalizing the booking and it fell apart when it came to production. Which is t that far fetched with her anyway.   When she did the Super Bowl, just a couple days beforehand she had the idea of wanting to rappel down from the top of the stadium to start the performance and they had to tell her there was no way it could be pulled off cause nobody makes a change like that so last minute.
    • :  Laughs in American again :    its $200 usd here for standing. Not even counting the $500 premium seats they sold yesterday.  Upper levels are $100 usd for the cheapest on average.
    • It's funny that Burnham says all this stupid corbynite or blue labour or blairite or whatever sh*t but still everyone wants him because he's a proper northern lad who wears t-shirts and there's no way can have Streeting because he's apparently a massive transphobic zionist in the payroll of private health companies and palantir even if he is maybe actually offering what many liberal lefties would prefer but he can't be trusted, I mean..look at him.
    • Burnham has hinted he supports compensation for waspi women...err...so that's nice.....
    • Chelsea, 10 years of cheating, dodgy agent payments, breaking financial rules, etc: £10m deferred fine, no points reduction   Everton, 1 year of narrowly breaking financial rules: £40m payment, due immediately, having already been docked 10 points (reduced on appeal).
