I genuinely thought they'd give it to the foos so i'm surprised.

So did I but it doesn't matter.

1. Coldplay could still easily be on the Sunday

2. What different does it make what day acts are booked for? No one last year goes "Ugh as if Reading have booked Blink again... Wait... What? They're playing the Sunday again?! Shit me I could have handled them playing a different day but not the same day as last time. Selling my ticket."

Who Metallica? Wouldn't say they're any larger in terms of general public appeal than Arcade Fire or Kasabian last time out, bigger in a historical, sold more records sense without a doubt. In the same respect you could say in 2010 that U2 should have been down for the Saturday? People seem to get hung up on an assumption that their are some sort of unwritten historic rules about where certain bands are placed

They were the biggest band of the three. Maybe not for the general public, but it was a massive coup to get a band who sell more tickets, sell more albums and are generally legends in their niche.

I do think that there's too much focus on the Saturday being some sort of sacred thing, but last year, the biggest act played that day.

Metallica play the UK every other year basically, didn't see it as a coup in any sense at all

With Adele and AC/DC gone from the rumours page, the remaining possible 3rd headliner rumours include Flo, Taylor, Elton, Rihanna, Libertines, Prince and ...... I've seen no-one discuss the fact that Motorhead are on there!! Still, can't see it happening, especially with Foos confirmed.

    • Sun's out today. Can feel the hills calling. Time to ramp up the energy levels. I've been easing my way in gently the last 2 weeks with the likes of Hayley and Lael Neale and Cut Worms and Maria Somerville etc. Time to unleash some Shame, Mogwai, Place to Bury Strangers and especially Wednesday and Mannequin Pussy.  Also, just back from a brilliant night in Belfast at the Fleadh Ceoil so anything with a fiddle or a whistle or a squeeze box is drawing me like the Sirens. Madra Salach with the volume up. COME ON!!
    • My Orange car park ticket turned up today. The envelope looked like some kind of junk mail offering me a loan so I nearly didn't open it!
    • There is a bunch of TBC acts on Deftones day, according to APE insta. The obvious guesses are Fiddlehead, Nothing, Dynamite and Make Way, "Outbreak" artists playing the night before. The question is more about how are they are gonna fit in on three big stages.    is
    • SURELY Reel Big Fish will be here?
    • Sam Fender, Harry Styles, Sabrina Carpenter is a very bland set of headliners. Commercially successful and makes plenty of sense, but it wouldn't be very inspirising. That said I want a band like Green Day to headline so who am I to say what exciting is.
