Just saw Sonisphere post this on their Facebook page. Very impressed with it..

"No doubt you have all heard the news today that Metallica are to appear at this year’s Glastonbury Festival. It was only last week that the band were officially asked to headline the legendary Pyramid Stage and, in turn, they immediately asked Team Sonisphere what we thought about releasing them from their exclusive appearance at Sonisphere. It's embarrassing reading some people's reactions. Of the past 6 Glastonbury's, only The Rolling Stones, U2 and maybe Bruce Springsteen are bigger and more of a legendary name than Metallica.

It will be very interesting to see what they open their set with. The Ecstacy of Gold intro they do will be epic, and if they do Enter Sandman first or Master of Puppets I think they could win over a lot of people

I'm still hoping for For Whom The Bell Tolls as the opener but Master of Puppets could be their Jumpin' Jack Flash i suppose. I like how in the interview Lars done Zane Lowe suggested the setlist problem that many bands face when playing festivals thinking its like a stadium tour and Lars responded with something along the lines of you know that I know we will need to work the setlist out.
