they've played …And Justice For All at nearly all of their recent shows, but i just can't imagine that getting an airing at Glastonbury, and one of the songs could be literally anything as it seems to change up a lot. regardless of the recent shows being 'by request' i reckon they'll stick to that basic formula

I was adamant I wouldn't be seeing Metallica as I've seen them before and was keen to check something else out but after listening to a few tunes last night the excitement was building! I may just be there... they certainly do put on a show

American Netflix has added Through the Never their newest live dvd for anyone who is interested. Going to give it a watch myself at somepoint today.

If they do play Glasto and their performance is anything like the Through The Never concert I'll be happy :-)

Watched a good bit of it yesterday and they looked great live since the time i saw them, even though there wasn't much of a stage setup at the Death Magnetic tour this Through the Never dvd makes up for it. Well worth a watch i'd say even if you aren't thinking about seeing them.

The song choices from what i saw were great aswell opening with Creeping Death.

good to hear, because a lot of them will probably like it, there is no more powerful edgy, intense kind of music in the live arena. Youll either love it or hate it....but the assumption that most will hate it is groundless because many of them your speaking about will have never seen a metal show before, so who knows how they will react? I know I was blown away the first time I saw metal live and thats why im the fan I am now.

Im not saying metallica are going to turn the crowd into metalheads overnight but I think a lot will come away with a lot more respect for the genre when they see it isnt just 4 angry men going rarrrrrr churning out white noise but actually they are a band of great musicians, a very commanding front-man and epic songs. See the thing is a lot of peoples attitude to heavy metal music is based on stereotypes and assumptions, most of which will be blown away when actually experiencing it live in person.

I hope so!

For sure it is not for everyone and some will walk away still disliking it, but to change some people's perception of heavy metal I think would be great.

they could do it - open up a voting system for ticket holders after they've been announced. but i seriously doubt they will. greatest hits set all the way (which will essentially be the exact same set as if they did open up a voting system anyway)

although what i'd give to start a campaign for them to play St. Anger in full
