  2. https://www.captiongenerator.com/v/2298351/hitler-reacts-to-glastonbury-2024-lineup Apologies I do not have the knowhow to inbed it into this post. If anyone else wishes to, please feel free 🙂 Enjoy.

  4. My thoughts are: - Liam and Stormzy play the same day to attract UK visitors; - Sam Smith seems to be surprisingly big, so they could leave him as a standalone headliner; - Same with Fred, maybe they add Skrillex as second headliner that day; - Martin Garrix always was a standalone headliner at Sziget, no reasons to change it; So there could be two spots left.

  5. And over the last 3 T Days, at least, I think many/most/all of us have had that terrifying feeling. Live every moment, team. This ain't for forever, for any of us. Ben x

  6. But no LCD Soundsystem and The National - my favorite names across both lineups. Also would've loved seeing Fontaines DC and Little Simz at Werchter.

  7. Ah fair enough then, I did think it seemed a bit out of character 😊 I think in this economic climate https://www.nme.com/news/music/21-uk-festivals-have-now-been-cancelled-postponed-or-scrapped-with-100-at-permanent-risk-without-action-3600756 And having had to replenish their reserves https://www.billboard.com/pro/glastonbury-festival-2019-financial-loss-covid-19/ It's an incredible achievement that they've not pulled back from their charity commitments https://www.nme.com/news/music/glastonbury-donated-record-breaking-3-7m-to-good-causes-in-2023-3559447 We know that there would be further outcry if they increased ticket prices to provide greater budget for acts who aren't prepared to compromise on their fee, so as I see it they're dancing on the head of a pin. I think with all that in mind, they've done a great job getting a nigh on gender split and a decent spread of acts, even at this comparatively early stage.

  10. Faithless are up there as one of my all time favourites but also hold the position of probably my favourite ever gig - Oxegen 2004 (old Irish Festival that thankfully is no more) Faithless were given a midday Sunday main stage slot but there was a rumour going around that they weren’t happy with the low position. However, because they were up against nobody really, pretty much the entire festival was at it (or at least, that’s how it felt). It had been raining most of the morning/afternoon with some pretty heavy showers. Enter Faithless. Maxi walks out, says a few words in his usual cool-as-f**k Maxi way, points to the sky and then bang, God is a DJ. I kid you not, the rain stops, the clouds disappear and the sun begins to beam down on us for the entire gig… It was bliss. Then, maybe 5 minutes after they finished up and the crowd began to disperse, it started to absolutely bucket down again, so heavy people were running for shelter in the tents. God truly was a DJ that day. RIP Maxi, you were one of a kind ✌🏼

  11. You see, I was at the front at that Acoustic Stage set last time and thought it was brilliant, the atmosphere around where I stood was just joyous. I've seen Dexys several times and they are always genius. In forty years they've never produced a dud in my view. All this talk of old stuff good and new stuff bad is bollocks. Just go with an open mind and hear whatever they go with on the day and if your ears are open I'll guarantee you'll enjoy. Rolland's voice alone is extraordinary.

  13. Hahaha indeed, it’s more for fun than a moan. As I said on another thread. Sooty, Sweep and Sue could headline and I would still be there.

  14. Good work. If you're going to moan about the line up at least put the work in and be funny!!

  15. Not even (just) the headliners. It's 2024 and the best the world's greatest festival can rustle up on the supposedly 'Other' stage is Bloc Party, Two Door Cinema Club, The Streets, Bombay and the Bicycles. Don't think it's unfair to say that for all those acts, maybe their best days are behind them. But who knows, maybe bands who were huge in 2010 are the real alternative.

  16. I've always had a possibly irrational hatred of all things Paul Heaton other than the fact he seems a really sound bloke. I think it's the lyrics, just so twee and trying to be clever. He'll go down a storm.

  18. We had to operate on trust when we did it … people brought for others on own cards and used other people’s cards some used prepayed cards . But we had a longer period of getting to know people over pandemic . There will be option to cancel payments with banks if you aren’t payed back I think . But if you don’t do this the risk of not getting tickets is much higher … the whole idea behind groups is that everyone works for everyone untill you are 100% complete or you might as well not bother grouping up .

  19. I feel like this but think some of this is my own doing. I go to festivals every year, I regularly go to gigs, and my list of acts I’d love to see but not had the chance to yet is getting smaller and smaller every year. Also think it’s a mentality thing. When you see acts when they are small, you become a blind to their growth and struggle to imagine them in high slots. I have friends who have this view often, they will say stuff like “I saw Dua in the John Peel a few years ago… I don’t see her as a headliner”. I still see Bicep as this small DJ act that couldn’t sell out venues. When they get massive billings and huge crowds it feels odd to me. It’s definitely a shared experience.

  20. This is the previous licence, so slightly out of date now. But should give an indication: Obviously the main changes since then will have been the various Silver Hayes switcharounds - I'd expect that there's a certain amount of freedom within that area (and within the various SEC corner fields for that matter) to switch things around a bit as long as it doesn't create any new noise impacts especially with relation to the off-site monitoring. Credit for this goes to Russ Garrett

  23. As I said a few days ago ” Feel like I’m at a familiar point in the cycle here. As we get close to poster time I have a long list of acts who are touring and could play, that probably couldn’t realistically fit on the bill in appropriate positions. Then when the poster drops I’m disappointed they’re not all there. Then I dig into the names and discover new stuff, and zero in on the big names on the bill I do want to see. Get more and more excited as it gets closer. Then the full line up comes out and loads of them clash. Then I switch to checking the weather forecast every 7 minutes. Then I have an amazing time despite forgetting acts I wanted to see. Its the circle of life.” At the bold bit currently, though normally I’m more disappointed than this TBH.

  25. I mean this in the nicest of ways. Some of you need a year or two off Glasto. Like every festival there's repeat bookings sure, but it doesn't mean it isnt a strong line up!

  26. Absolutely buzzing after this line-up poster. Alvvays, Jamie XX, Confidence Man, LCD Soundsystem, Burna Boy, Jessie Ware, Justice, Skream, Little Simz.

  30. That’s the plan, as mentioned earlier I’ll be closing this off in 2 weeks time and then will get the group put together. There are a few missing contact numbers from a couple of groups so hopefully their mates will add them in and we’ll all be good to go for the start of April, should give us a good 2-3 weeks before the resale to get comfortable and find out how the sale will take place and then coordinate from there

  31. thing is, nothing in that corner has ever finished being built at that point. of course, that doesn't therefore mean that they couldn't do so in the future - and IICON in particular would be a good choice what with being a wide open space. i just can't see it being built in time!

  32. I think it's viewed differently by different people. In UK, for example, in our academic qualifications, the highest possible mark is A+. Therefore, AA+ is typical hyperbole, but indicates a VERY high level act. Which means we all get excited for The Killers and Red Hot Chili Peppers, despite knowing we're going to get Macklemore and Major Lazer!

  33. I think he's only seen as an over promotion because he's quite down to earth and has played the farm a lot. Rick Astley is a novelty whereas Paul Heaton is up there as one of the best song writers the UK has produced. I know he would never do the legend slot for the reasons I've mentioned but in terms of a canon of hits that everyone knows and could singalong to there ain't much better out there.

  35. The raw data isn't there for them in the UK, but should be great fun. One of those where if it proves to be quite the success, could pave the way for future Pyramid positions at the top, which certainly helps to further build out a roster of headliners.

  39. Had a listen. It's generic stale pop music written by the same factory of people. I don't why this type of thing is socially acceptable now. They will be miming and doing dance routines. Young kids music, which is fine. I know this will anger people but I don't care. it's f**king dreadful.
