  3. Been offered an Avalon place from waitlist - accepted and deposit paid, will be pulling pints with my sister! 🥳🍻🍹 Means one more Oxfam spot is definitely going back - good luck to those of you still on the hunt 🤞

  4. I think I've finally come to terms with the fact that I can't go... I was successful on ticket weekend. I was the only one in our group of 18 that got through and managed to buy six tickets. Very exciting! I found out the same weekend that I was pregnant. Now, if it were 4 of 5 months, I would totally still go for it. From what I hear about being pregnant, 8 and a bit seems a bit of a stretch.... So now I'm planning a deck chair and projector in the garden, and inviting some mates and neighbours so I can at least watch some people get drunk. Despite the above, I am still hella excited for the poster drop!

  5. Huge part of the difference being that, even speaking as firmly not a Coldplay fan, they can be relied upon to play a big, joyous, crowd pleaser of a show in a way that the Arctics can't

  6. Ladies and Gentlemen, we have found the first person on planet earth who liked the first announcement. What award does he win? Joking! There were a few acts I liked, just not enough and, most importantly for a first announcement, there were many, many acts I hadn't heard of.

  7. The obsession with Slowdive playing this festival is absolutely bizarre. They've done some pretty wide reaching tours in the US/UK/Europe recently, plenty of opportunities to see them, will be better than on an outdoor stage at a festival too.

  10. They’d be mad not to book Coldplay. They’re basically the most reliable stadium fillers in the world. They aren’t even doing another UK gig this year let alone a festival. It’s 8 years since they last played (even putting aside how entitled the repeat booking complaints sound) and there will be thousands and thousands of people at Glastonbury in 2024 who weren’t there in 2016 or were there but went to something else (waves). They’ll fill the field, play all the hits and everyone will have a great time.

  11. Yeah, but he's nowhere near as popular since he's stopped playing dubstep

  13. Imagine having the biggest band in the world wanting to play your fest for free and being like 'nah it's ok, you headlined 8 years ago sorry!'

  14. That would be great, been a big fan, one of her warriors and weirdos since the first album. Last time she played in the JP was terrific.

  16. I really liked the first wave. I can understand the line-up feels cheap in terms of big names, but if we talk about music, I really like the vibe. I don't go to Sziget for the big names, I can understand most people do. Let's wait to see next one

  20. Thanks, and fair question! It's just so I can camp with my sister (and hopefully work same shifts) as she also got a place with Avalon. Several of us tried for Oxfam but I was the only one who got a spot - both their 'general' batches went in nanoseconds. Hoping we get kind shifts but fairly relaxed about it. We've both been thinking of volunteering for a while - nice to have the guaranteed camping spot, food and showers! From the sounds of it we may have a trek across site with our stuff though...

  21. Frank Turner: Leftfield 2010 (my first time seeing him!) and then Other, Strummerville, Avalon. Beans On Toast: Avalon, Bandstand, Greenpeace, Hell stage, Leftfield. Missed his short appearance on the Pyramid last year... Waterboys: Pyramid, Acoustic, Avalon (all in one year too!).

  22. My bad, they're playing Chicago the week before, not Cardiff. So not in UK but she's over for BST after that and there's a gap

  23. I'm still not 100% on this. I've no real idea why. I think that by keeping it under wraps (more so than usual) this year means there must be a curveball incoming and whilst SZA would be a curveball, I'd expect something that would be more of a "wow" moment than a "who?" moment.

  24. So they could have watched them for free last time they played. What they complaining about?

  31. Primavera Sound 2024 without Slowdive would not make any sense to me. Since their comeback at Primavera Sound 2014, this band has become one of THE bands of the festival. Now, with a new record and around at the time, I can't image them not playing... It would be the 10 years birthday show since the comeback.

  36. LCD could be one of the most sparse crowds at the Pyramid in recent years? Their 2016 crowd at T in the Park was shocking.

  40. The Tubs feature a couple of members of Joanna Gruesome and in Dead Meat made one of my favourite albums of last year, saw it described as "if Richard Thompson had formed Sugar". Islet have been around for years and years, their more recent work has tended towards more ambience but live they make a huge noisy psych sound and are far from averse to charging into the crowd and across the stage. Man/Woman/Chainsaw are art-rock out of the Brixton Windmill scene and are supposedly hugely raucous live. Brown Wimpenny have been mentioned, they use some of Lankum's drone and dread in service to huge chorales of old folk songs a la Shovel Dance Collective/Broadside Hacks. Fulu Miziki look fun, they're an Afrofuturist collective from DR Congo with a lot of homemade percussion and dancing, they would surely suit anyone who loved BCUC or Kokoko!

  44. Please don't spend anything close to that. She's playing enough dates that tickets will come available. In the days leading up people will get ill or plans will change and tickets will crop up. If you're not fussy about where you sit or stand then you'll get 2
