  5. Yep I know too many people who think music should essentially be a free commodity. I buy vinyl predominantly to support the artists. I don't even listen to it at the rate I buy it and especially during the pandemic I concentrated on spending my money mostly on smaller artists who I knew could be hit hardest by not being able to tour. I don't buy as much tour merch as I should but mainly because I really hate carting it around on the night of a gig but I do try and buy the odd t-shirt online. I do go mostly for cheaper, smaller venue gigs but that's mostly because those playing the big arenas/stadiums don't really need the money/support as much and I do prefer smaller gigs. I do also pay for my Deezer and artists probably earn more from me than most as I always have music playing in at least one room in the house even when I go out (for the dogs!) That being said I would like artists to use their clout to get more venues adopting services like Dice which is more environmentally friendly, easier to re-sell and screw over fans less with booking fees etc.

  6. We were talking about J. Cole earlier weren't we? Jermaine Lamarr Cole? Born 1985. Just interesting that stuff about him graduating with a 3.8 GPA wasn't it?

  18. Based on a ticket value of £270 excluding the value of the program (that’s VAT free). Bringing the sale forward would save around £2.8 million of VAT which could be used to prevent large price hikes £54 of VAT at 20% per ticket £33.75 of VAT at 12.5% per ticket 140000 tickets

  19. Reminder, for me and everybody else, that the remaining balance was (is) £215 per ticket. x

  20. Good spot. This has to be a VAT thing and makers perfect sense in that context. In short, VAT on event tickets is currently reduced to 5%. This goes up to 12.5% on October 1st, and then back up to the full 20% on April 1st.

  25. Around 3/4ish years ago if we aren't including The Pilot and I did actually see someone with Status Quo and WASP patches there. I remember thinking about if it was meant to be somekind of ironic cosplay or not.

  26. I was too. It was a long hot day and, as good as Sigur Ros are, it didn’t have my energy levels up.

  28. I just wish they’d just ‘bend the truth’ and add the additional costs into the ticket prices. I’d rather pay £40 for a ticket with ‘zero’ fees than £35 with £5 additional fees - even though it’s essentially the same thing. Much like how VAT isn’t an issue when you can’t see it!

  29. I managed to fall asleep earlier in the day whilst stood in the queue for halloumi up at the Park after Unknown Mortal Orchestra. Ended up back in my tent in Michael's Mead setting an alarm for a 20 minute nap before ZZ Top. Fair to say that went well.

  30. The reality is if GPs where seeing more people face to face there would be more GP absences which doesn't help with the excess demand. There are two issues at work here: 1. It is hard to get a GP appointment of any kind. This is because there is a shortage of GPs, you can blame lazy GPs wanting part time hours once they've qualified, you can blame too many immigrants as the countries full, you can blame Brexit for chasing away all those lovely EU Drs, you can blame the Tories for a decade of underfunding the NHS, or whatever else suits your political axe BUT you cannot blame current COVID restrictions. 2. Most appointments are now phone appointments unless there is no way the examination can be done using a call and sending some pics. This isn't causing a backlog it's the same GPs giving you the same time but without the risk of spreading anything. Obviously if you need to be seen you should be able to go in and in my experience this has been fine, I've had my GPs finger up my bum twice this pandemic. Issue 1 is a big problem, I've found at my practice Issue 2 isn't a big deal in fact I would 100% support the default appointment being a phone appointment past the pandemic it's much less disruptive.

  34. I am fucking bored of the expectations that only the super duper stadium acts can and should headline festivals where there's more interesting options available when you look past that small selection. It's be a shame if those mid-fest slot get taken away for staduim acts.

  36. Shit American booking fees asides I don't think people have touched on how musicians were forced to change how their business works. People don't buy music anymore so they have been forced to tour more with higher prices whilst trying to flog merch like they work on a market stall rather than make music. So it's kinda insane to see some people on here who have been getting free music for years, refuse to buy a drink to support the smaller venue or merch to support the band themselves, skip the support band and go on about saving their pennies on ticket pticecs. Yes they get money from Spotify but the rates are complete shit. Below are the pay rates of how royalties work now. I saw a UK version of this which I now can't find. Alot of the bands I listen to don't come close to these type of listeners let alone 4x it so each member can have money.
