For one time... Nice quality names still to come for RW. A lot of them. A lot of great female acts too. This batch of names was logic. People who are liking the more commercial names are happy now, the feedback on social media were very clear about that. Most of the people need this type of easy commercial artists. I don't have to say how many criticism they get because it was too alternative (FNM, Pixies, Wilco, Strokes, Thom Yorke... are not those easy mass acts). I'm not happy with every artist, but they fit the RW philosophy perfect. Some names mentioned, people are thinking that they won't come anymore to RW (because they have a loaded schedule or ...) , will still play and will be announced very soon. Not easy to make the perfect line up, same story every year. And yes, everybody can say that. Till next time... PS: stop about MCR, please 😂

I really dislike labels, be they political, cultural or otherwise as they can be divisive and manipulative but that's just my opinion. Smarter people than me will give me a hundred reasons why they're important. I'd say that the attitude of the majority of people in attendance has influenced and educated me far more than specific areas like Leftfield or Greenpeace. I tend to use the five days at the festival as the barometer to how we should treat each other, in the main. The reality of how the real world is come Monday is always the factor that gives me the Glasto blues. Inclusivity, tolerance, kindness, togetherness, equality. Just a few of the positive things that Glastonbury has exposed me to over the years. More important than the music, the politics, the headliners, the weather, all of it.

Poo Crew sounds like hard work in comparison to WA Loo Crew. I appreciate it is all relative and still shit blasting but was actually strangely OK last year on Loo Crew. I found myself getting quite philosophical about the whole experience. The down time was so appreciated also. It was the best festival i have ever experienced just to put in perspective for folks. There are people globally who would consider themselves extremely fortunate to have access to a toilet like a Glastonbury long drop (even the ones that look like they have been strafed by an Albatross). And, there are people who clean toilets all day every day for a pittance. If I can’t hack 4 shifts of 6 hours at the greatest place on earth, what does that say about me?

😎 Very happy with today's announcement. Quality acts, big names, nice female additions. Some acts who looked certainties for Pukkelpop. A lot of the hinted acts were already mentioned. Good job everyone to guess them right. Still 55/60 names to go after today. Looking forward to see all the reactions. Cyu next week, same time!

Anyone know if he'll be pulled from the festival or will he be alright as there's no women on the line up to harass?

I'm assuming that's bollocks as it's the Star, but if it was that'd be pretty cool. Plus it would make Piers Morgan explode, which would be even better.

I actually had a slightly different experience. I've always been left and come from hardcore lefty stock, but I was in Leftfield a few years ago when somebody on the right had the gall to suggest there could be a more balanced debate to be had. Billy Bragg was so viscous in his condemnation of such a suggestion, it actually made me a bit embarrassed to be aligned with him. I mean, I get it - Leftfield is for those of us on the left. It's about recharging more than it is debating. But the self-exclusion of the left is one of the core problems we face. It's OK as long as it's just us in the room; freedom of speech is fine as long as it only applies to us; violence is horrible when it's the right but it's a revolutionary uprising when it's us. Maybe I'm just getting older and therefore inevitably more right wing, but it seems to me that bubbles on either side of the political fence serve little more than to bolster pre-conceptions, whereas true progression lies elsewhere.

Is it sad that when I know the poster is out I make sure I don't get any spoilers, so that when I'm alone I put the poster up on my laptop screen (squinting my eyes so I don't see anything) then put a bit of paper up and reveal each act one by one? I mean I don't care if it is... I'm incredibly excited to do the exact same thing again.
  22. 10 points
I’d rather see a better spread of women across the top echelons of the lineup than just lumping them all into one day.

It's finished in the Festival Republic head office. Eminem has done all he can. That latest album was enough to be considered for headline slot at Reading and Leeds. Rage Against The Machine are still alive here. De La Rocha...MORRELLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

We got 99 problems but the spreadsheet ain't one... 99 days to the general resale so it seems as good as time as any! Please see the attached link for the resale spreadsheet, it is only open to be viewed currently - we can open it for editing closer to the date to add more specific details such as contact numbers etc. It has been discussed in the resale thread that it will close a few weeks before resale, so that people on new groups can familiarise themselves and sort payment methods etc. If any needs changing, please let me know via email - glastonburyresale@gmail.com - or if you can be added tomorrow any groups too. Placements on there aren't in any particular order, they were initially done in order of contact but as people have dropped out of it I've filled gaps etc. Perhaps, any helpers can start at different positions and work through? Thanks to everyone for their help in advance, and good luck to all! Looking at last year there were about 26 stories of success via the resale group (some were volunteering etc.) so let's try to surpass that! This thread is purely for the spreadsheet, let's keep the support of the resale thread going... it's appreciated. Currently on there are: @crazyfool1, @vintagelaureate, @Charm, @flyleen, @SecretFish, @semmtexx, @Superscally, @BlueDaze, @JacobCMarshall, @gigpusher, @Puttycat1, @clucking, @Stalk1963, @bloom92, @Levitz, @Strummer74, @Johnkhutch, @Little Andy, @wweerr208, @BackpackFullOfWarmBeer, @ionicmoose, @Flysheet, @blutarsky, @plot2pot, @AAlex, @Gilb, @nusha, @rockandnoll, @Barnabybear, @spg, @Fearless_Fish, @CCester, @Monie802, @TheGoodWillOut, @Sweet Pea@Zoo Music Girl, @Sweet_pea, @Damon, @Bovla, @karlpowell, @Friendly Banter, @Smash1984, @marigold83 Please get in touch if you need to be added, or need anything changing! No, they pulled out. Mad cool their own mistake. The Strokes are a very difficult band to work with, everything has to be on point. But the offer of Mad Cool was to good to refuse. But if you without a signed contract, already share artwork with other bands, where The Strokes where on it. That, and some other issues, are the reason that the deal is off. Money or no money. The ego of a band is more important in this world than the cash. I think that they are still lobbying to get them on their festival, but I don't see it happen. If they continue to work like this in the next years, then there is no Mad Cool in 2024 anymore.
  31. 9 points
Without any signed headlinerdeal upgrade the festival and make it a 4 day festival instead of 3, making a mess again with a lot of agents, the list of agents that refuses to work with Mad Cool is growing and growing. They miss a lot of acts because of this. Money is not the only thing in this world. Take an example and look at NOS. Only if they had the permission to announce Kendrick, they made it a 4 day festival. Very annoying. Just like Open'er earlier this week. No agent was informed that they would announce that day. Except for the Chem Brs. So the Open'er promotors were contacting the agents that same day of it is ok that they would announce their acts, that is why it came in parts. Totally not professional. You prepare an announcement, you do everything to keep an agent and entourage happy. Some people think: we will just pay good money and everything will be allright. Mad Cool is now contacting everyone in the world, to score this headliner. And always offering a ton of money. But you know the answers until now.

HAha omg wow. Some people will never EVER have enough, will they? 😆 Another act in between Liam/Strokes or after Strokes is to be expected though. Few acts have been in the running, back out, back in again. I don't think anything is a done deal yet , guess it would have been announced if it was. Fingers crossed. Mind you, this sort of situation happens every year, but it's not always this obvious. The Greta Van Fleet spot last year could have been Eddie Vedder's, but he fell through early on. Surely other options must have been considered, but oh well, it happens. Pixies subbing PJ wasn't their first intention either, but I suppose they'll manage with PJ, the good Barn, etc. RATM simply don't seem to be touring Europe in 2020. But let's all hope for 2021! RHCP/FF were never really an option as far as I know. SOAD headlining on the other hand, was actually always the plan, after 2017's success.

You will know it by the end of this month normally... exciting, isn’t it? the line up is overall a lot stronger than last year, but rw misses one very big name... happier with this line up though! Again, if every thing goes as planned, some nice announcements are coming your way. cya

every clip from the video comes from this video from the official YouTube account There has been editing but some scenes are literally the same ones back to back. I think if it was real they would have used different years footage and footage from both festivals I think nice try

Like I said: I didn't know about OneRepublic reputation in festivals, or if they have any chance at headlining. This is going to be my first festival, and even though I've tried to be informed about everything Mad Cool related to help (because I'm spanish), I'm not the best one to say “this one might headline”, and that's why I'm making the list adding every artist YOU ALL say, and have asked about bands that I thought that could be added before putting them up just because I had no clue and you all obviously know more about this. But that doesn't mean that I can't ask about bands. Even if they wouldn't or it would crazy to even think about them headlining, I was just ASKING. It's not like I said “WE COULD ADD ONEREPUBLIC TO THE LIST!!! I THINK THEY COULD BE ONE OF THE HEADLINERS!!!” I asked “what about this band?”. You could have just answered “Nope because blahblablah” and that's it. I'm trying to learn so I can be more helpful next year.

The most hyped return of the year is Ken - Efestivals, to hell with MCR, RATM or The Strokes

I dont know anything about MC, but i do spend a lot of time with promoters / music media in Austria & Slovenia, so i can share some of the stuff I know from them, maybe it will be helpful to you guys : Foo F - they should have a new record out late 2020, with bigger touring in 2021. This summer they will only do a smaller number of shows in Europe. Something like 7-8 shows maximum. Apparently its June only. RHCP - if I understood right, the announced shows are the final ones, new album later this year, more touring in 2021. THE STROKES - they will definitely play a lot of shows in June / July this year, some 7-8 more shows are to be announced, at least. MCR - nobody has any info / clues, the hardest thing to guess. From what i learned, they change plays almost every week. It all went downhill after their fallout with Coachella, they were confirmed for that, something happened, they dropped out. Rumour is Goldenvoice (promoter) decided to go with RATM, they only wanted to have 1 rock day, and then they (promoter) cancelled on MCR and went with RATM instead, betting thats the more popular reunion. It ruined their (MCR) US tour, that was planned in Arenas around Coachella. They will apparently put 3rd UK show on sale next week, and if that sells out, i mean thats really crazy. Thats something like 90,000 tickets in total. Crazy. They will definitely be here late June and early July, but from the people i asked, nobody knows any confirmed shows.

Exactly. People used to Belgian festival line-ups throughout the years are spoiled as fuck. SOAD and Volbeat will prove to be a solid pair of headliners (with a sub for the both of 'em probably announced soon). No need for a closing headliner after SOAD there. And it's definitely time to start forgetting about RHCP and Foo Fighters. And a big sub on the PJ day (like Tame Impala or something). Friday is supposed to get another sub or headliner though, which is proving to be very hard to find. Bunch of things ruled out already. No Lana anymore, either. Always remember many options do fall through every year. The ideal line-up is what they start from every year. Sometimes option D is what they have to settle for due to all kinds of circumstances.
