Well it might make a difference slightly to some bands who prefer to play in the dark and the old tent wasn't big enough, and maybe some acts that have gone on the Other Stage would move over but I doubt we would see any drastic changes.

Martin Elbourne booked the JP stage last year. (and the year before, perhaps? I forget). At least, that's what Martin told me.

He swapped over to doing that after Emily and Nick took over Pyramid & Other.

Perhaps Jim is the "compere" then, he's definitely involved in the running of it and comes on before/after most acts.

I know John And Judy Badger who do the logistics / performer / stage management for JP. Might ask them though wouldn't be surprised if they've been told to keep quiet about any major changes.

I meant the changes to the stage actually, yes. Not worried about who books the acts.

I remember thinking to myself the JP tent was pretty knackered this year, I glanced up and it was actually riddled with holes. There was also a fairly big leak in the middle of the tent when it tipped it down on Friday too.

A replacement is definitely overdue, although I do hope it remains a tent.

If it's the implementation that was meant to happen last time, then it's a new 4 post tent with a different width/depth ratio, but supposedly still the same capacity.

I think it's got to be a new home of some sort - they (Glastonbury) already have bought a new stage (Other) I wonder if it will be a new tent of some sort. It definitely needs replacing and is also used for the Pilton Party I think.

 

Dave F's idea of removing long ground bottleneck would be a great idea - I wonder if the wooded area (nature area) there is where they were looking at putting a new venue and they'll completely change access from that side - it's always a ball ache to get to - that I only visit JP via Dance Village these days

Yes, I would like to see some of the markets between the Other and Pyramid on the right hand side moved to Lower Mead by the JP to sort out congestion in both of those pinch points - it would be much nicer to have a big open space in the middle of the festival. There's enough camping to absorb it elsewhere.

Its still a good move, as the tent does look a bit tired and Jim King (think thats his name?) said this year on facebook they was looking at a new stage/tent for this year but obviously didn't get it sorted in time.

Anyway I wouldn't believe anything Emily had to say after claiming Kanye was a brave performance....

felt it was a very brave performance myself tbh. so shes on the money on that one for me.

Yeah the old other stage was a just a standard stage used at loads of festivals/events.
