Me and my Wife are going to see them at murrayfield stadium, just wondering if anyone has been to a gig there before whats it like in the standing area? Is it easy to get drinks? what is it like if you are near the back, can you still see the big screens etc?

Fine. Nice view, electric atmosphere.

If I'd been on my own, or just with a couple, I'd have been there early but a day in the pub was easier with so many

Glastonbury needs to get some screens like that.

Ok, they wouldn't work on the Pyramid like that but they must be able to adapt in some way.

At least get them for the Other

Pictures don't do them justice, they, and the stage, were huge in comparison with anything at Glastonbury.

On my drive home on Friday night, i was trying to think of another gig or occasion that could possibly surpass it. This made me a little sad because i couldn't think of many other fictional gigs that could. All i could come up with was Knebworth and possibly headlining the Pyramid.

Over riding thought though was that might be as good as it gets..

I said similar to somebody last night... I'm not sure knebworth would come close, I think that may be the peak right there, and I'm not even mad. A gig half as good as Saturday is still a great gig.

Prior to last night Liam at Knebworth 2022 was in my top 5. That was considering the complete package. Close mates, great crowd, banging support, Liam in great form. It has the potential, if the band are still at it by the time a Knebworth gig could roll around, to surpass it. A lot would need to click though, so you're probably right.

Saw them at Murrayfield in 2000, got there early to find they didn’t sell alcohol inside.

Appreciate this info is 25 years old….

Yeh I was wondering if timing had a lot to do with it. There was a lot of emotion running through that place, like I said, sunglasses all night, and I wasn't alone. A lot of Euphoria too, each and every person in that crowd understood how lucky we were that this was even happening, not to mention that we were there. The band 'seem' to understand how lucky they are that people wanted it so badly, they really were on top form.

How does time, and a good number of fans getting to see them on this first year of the tour, affect that dynamic? How does the band, and the brothers, spending a year on the road together, affect their dynamic.

Honestly, it could go either way, but if Knebworth is announced, I'll be trying...

Cheers - yeah says 1230 on the return tix which seems more than enough time to get out of the ground.

Says it gets there 3pm - how long does the queue in take?

I went in around 5pm and it was pretty quick at that time - under 15 mins.

We took my 13yo goddaughter and her 15yo brother (he's also a guitarist and singer). I was a little apprehensive as their parents aren't traditional gig goers and have only been to seated gigs before.

Bless them, they were amazing. Sang every song word for word. Both cried. The 15yo had his arms round me when I cried.

Just beautiful.

@nikkic this was rubbish and you wouldn't have liked it xx

Multiple generations of family and friends, brought together singing and dancing in the sun with a field full of like minded people....

Sounds awful.

Can confirm they sell alcohol now at gigs lol. I went for Eras tour and it was easy enough to get drinks (we were front left standing there), although I imagine the demand for bevy will be alot higher for an oasis gig....

Yes I think Knebworth 22 was the stage being set for this - not directly, but more in the sense that it presented a diverse crowd, multi-generational, let alone a rejuvenated Liam. I loved that weekend dearly.

Surely that made its way to Noel’s camp and here we are.

There was still a bit of that about but nothing (with the exception of a bit of piss throwing) that i saw go over the line.

The piss throwing is proper c**t behaviour. Though from what I've read these gigs don't seem as bad as I expected from a crowd perspective. Having parents and their kids there has probably helped a bit rather than just a load of pissed and coked up blokes.

It sounds like the crowd hasn’t been the ‘lager lout lads’ of mid-2000s Oasis gigs? And is so much better for it.

counting down to 2 August now!

Some twat had a pop at me, in a verbally aggressive way, on the way in - I went to go in a portaloo and he accused me of jumping in front of his 15 year old lad. Very odd energy, his mate had to calm him down. There was literally nobody stood there when I walked in, and I said to him your entire group can go before me if you want. I'm literally just squeezing one out to avoid a queue when I go in.

I feared that was the sort of energy we were in for at the gig but thankfully it wasn't, the atmosphere vibe/inside was great.

I got covered in something... I assume it was beer, because by the time we were on the shuttle home, the overwhelming smell was a very vinegary smell... 😂

I think there was just enough lager louts to help the atmosphere, as there was definitely some present, but also enough people of a more chilled nature to keep it from going too far.

I'm 6'3" and a big bloke, a couple of lads after the gig seemed to think I was a wrestler and wanted to wrestle with me, it was all good fun and good natured, not at all threatening, but my OH was a little weirded out. (They were also quite literally less than half my size. 😂)

Saw two scraps start on Sat but shut down very very quickly by security... Both 1 on 1s rather than any big groups going at each other. 1 during cast and 1 during Richard Ashcroft, so hopefully the kn0bs will have been out before the Gallaghers even approached the stage.

We're toying with going sitting on Gallagher Hill on Sat, but as others have said, don't wanna taint the memory.

Sounds like everyone who has been has had an incredible time so far! Haven’t heard a bad word.

i am still desperately trying for two tickets to any show at Wembley. Does anyone have any tips on best way to go about it? I’m checking and refreshing both ticketmaster and twickets throughout the day but it feels quite hopeless! equally if anyone knows of a pair going!

To the people asking about the tram situation to Bury a few pages back... I went on Saturday and it was absolutely fine. Walked to Prestwich tram stop, straight onto a tram already waiting there, not packed at all there was even empty seats, obviously a lot quieter heading that way than back into town!
Oasis finished at 22:15, I was stood right in the middle of front standing and I was at Bury station by 23:15.

Oh yeah and it was the best gig I've ever seen

Worst thing I saw was a young woman on someone's shoulders, looked to be early 20s, get deliberately targeted and covered by a cup of piss. Unbelievable really, when you imagine that happening in literally any other environment, the mind boggles that people still do it.

I also saw a group of very intoxicated looking older guys have a falling out just before Champagne Supernova, there was no trouble, but the group separated and I thought what a shame it was after everyone had probably waited so long for this gig and ended it on a bad note.

Other than that I found the crowd fine, a wide variety of ages and groups - friends, couples, families. Much tamer than I had anticipated.

Exactly the same situation as me. I parked at Whitefield.

Looking for a bit of advice for tomorrow from anyone who knows Manchester well.

I'm heading up with a group of mates from school – we all saw the band together back in the early days but now live all over the UK, so this is a bit of a reunion for us.

We’re staying in a hotel near Piccadilly Station but don’t know Manchester too well.

Where’s good to soak up the atmosphere in the early afternoon? Any bars or areas that’ll have a decent pre-gig buzz?

We’re planning to get the tram up to the gig and are pretty much resigned to walking back. After the show, are there any places worth heading to in town that will be open late? I’ve seen afterparties at Star and Garter and The Venue – anyone been to these? What are they like?

Any tips appreciated – cheers!

A friend of a friend is doing a pre party on 33 Oldham Street. 3pm-7 (but tbh  getting to the gig could be difficult if you left at 5 ish)

I am going to be in the Red Lion in Prestwich or the Woodthorpe from about 1 o clock for pre gig atmosphere.

The star & garter is a decent pub, just make sure the after parties include  Wednesday.

Everywhere in town will likely be bustling in the day - you won't go far wrong. Just be careful getting to the gig. We ubered from a mate's in south Manchester but I believe trams & buses were an absolute shitshow. I'd be inclined to set up in a bar in Prestwich earlyish.

If you're just after a good post-gig singalong - what you've listed will be fine, and there'll be plenty more. Everywhere is at it. Again though - it's getting back to town. I ended up doing the walk on Saturday.. again. Despite living here, I still underestimate it.

    • Brazil's first half was genuinely dreadful all round, not just the midfield, so they're absolutely not bulletproof. Whether Scotland have the quality to take advantage is a different question.   Tbf, that's as much on Morocco looking good, which I did think was a possibility. They could be a bit annoyed with themselves not to have scored more before Vini's goal tbh.
    • Surely nowadays with so much data analytics available on every division in world football and so much awareness that people aren't suckered in on the basis of a decent World Cup game... right?   Although tbf, from what I saw, Australia's game plan worked very well. But that was as much thanks to Turkey blowing varying opportunities given they created enough chances but couldn't finish, a la what happened with Switzerland against Qatar when they really could and should've won by 3/4 goals.
    • I missed Viagra Boys for a good spot for Gorillaz. Was a nice weekend and festival for me. Would definitely come back, if the line up is right. Get back home safe everyone.
    • The Last Temptation - new Heaven 17 documentary film directed by James Strong. Premiered at Sheffield Docfest this weekend.    I really enjoyed it. Affectionate, insightful, and honest. A nice mix of archival and footage, interviews and clips from the last tour. Martyn and Glenn are like an old married couple.   Plus a snippet of news from the Q&A, Martyn is recording new BEF material, and Phil Oakey has collaborated on the one of tracks. The film shows them meeting in Fagans for the first time in over 35 years.
