Of course. I was tempted to mention that pre gig, but would have been heavily shouted down. It’s part of the whole Oasis thing.

To be fair to Oasis, and this is not a defence Skip, the early to mid 90s (for a tangled web of reasons) brought the worst out of masculine culture. The band's (even Blur) the magazines (FHM, loaded) and the the " Lads" culture, the Soccer AM parades of women  in football shirts have a lot to answer to for todays boreish mid 50s coke fiend culture.

I lived, loved and breathed the rave scene epihany as a Mancunian from 87 - 92. The clubs we took for granted are now defied and they were incredible at the time.

I still love early 80s electro and hip hop and anything from the Tommy Boy label woukd suit my coffin courtege (preferably looking for the perfect beat) but life has moved on and many of us have also moved on.

As a rapidly approach retirement indie head / raver we dont chase the rainbow and are not  selfish twunts. There are many the other side of Thatchers Rubicon and it ain't purely the fault of Oasis.

I was as a sh*t gig in the Boardwalk, Knebworth and Maine Road. Many at the current Oasis gig goers were not born so let's let them form their own joy.

Yeah that's me.

I'm not doing Beatherder this year. I cant afford it really, so Oasis is my blow out. A few of my mates are. If you are going, I am jealous!

Next year then perhaps and we can throw some shapes.

I'm ridiculously excited about Paul Taylor in Toil Trees on Sunday afternoon.

I lived in Manchester from 88 - 93 and also loved the rave scene. I was on the guest list for Wednesday nights at the Hacienda. However my favourite club at the time was Konspiracy

Well, isn't that an aligner of the stars.

We pretty much lived in there.

Can you believe it was only open for eleven months 😔

We did the Bee Network shuttle which was pretty good.  Going we decided to leave early in case it was a nightmare so jumped straight on one around 3pm.  Getting back to Manchester it was a bit of a free for all - they had set up barriers which zig zagged (for f’king miles) leading to the bus bit but loads of people got fed up walking them and just jumped over or dismantled the barriers (with the stewards doing nothing).  But they did have loads of buses, filled them up well, and we were back at Shudehill by 11.30.

Had no real issues with the crowd. We were in the second tier of front standing and stood a bit to the side so had room for dancing!  We had loads of lovely people around us.  Got barged around a little bit but more through drunken loss of spacial awareness than d*ck behaviour.  Didn’t see one bit of trouble all day.

Cast and Richard Ashcroft were great, and of course Oasis were amazing.  What a gig!  I’m still on a high.

Do you need to pre-book the bus or can you just jump on? I'm sure I've seen someone mentioning they've booked buses so I just want to be sure before getting to the front of the queue! We're going next Saturday, I cannot wait!

I pre-booked the official shuttle which went from Lever Street in the NQ and dropped you right off in the middle of Heaton Park, and returned back to Shudehill exchange. It was £10 return.  There may well be a normal local bus you can get for cheaper but tbh I don’t know that area very well and wasn’t sure if they ran at night, so the shuttle seemed easier. If you want to prebook tickets you need to download the Bee Network App you can book on there.  It’s not obvious where to find them but if you go to tickets, highlight Bus, then 1 day/Hopper and click Find tickets all the shuttle busses come up.  I think you are supposed to have one app on each phone as it only lets you buy one ticket, but I bought two as individual purchases and they both showed in my app and both worked on the day. When you get to the bus bit on Lever Street you get given a yellow wristband for coming back.

Thank you! Did you manage to get back into town at a decent time? And do you get to choose what time bus you get to leave from town?

No you just pitch up on Lever Street, they scan your app, give you a wristband, you join a queue and then get on the next bus.  We went quite early at around 3pm and walked straight on to a waiting bus. I’m not sure how much of a queue there would have been later though.  Coming back was a bit more of a challenge (see my earlier post) but we were back at Shudehill by 11.30, and didn’t particularly rush away from the gig.

That's great, thank you again

Heaton Park is horrific to get to & from.

Tbh though, there isn't really a suitable place in Manchester if Man City is unavailable. Everywhere is a mission to get to.

It’s a nightmare but any city that has 80,000 people at the same time would have issues, Wembley has massive queues, when people are leaving.

There is that vibe with big crowds causing big queues, yeah.

Old Trafford cricket ground wasn't too bad to get to. Getting out of, by comparison, was a pain in the arse.

Some GA advice, it's like the Pyramid Stage in that everyone stands around the edges and makes it look like you cant get forward, but there is space when you do get nearer the barrier.

If you use the bars and toilets back left as you look at the stage, you can get in towards the barrier from there. We managed to get back to our spot just as they came on pretty easily, with it getting easier to move the further forward we got

Same with virtually any arena or venue I’ve ever been to

Indeed, just this needs.reiterating for this one after the front/GA lottery because it's genuinely the difference between enjoying it and being miles away for no reason. We had it easy but I was shocked when I saw the drone footage because I didn't realise how far the crowd went back in the middle

We just accept we'll be walking home when we go there and get the tram up early

I'm at front standing too. Do you know it around there? I think if you head more towards Prestwich, you'll have a better chance for a taxi.

I've never used Bolt around here, only Uber or local taxis.

I live in Heywood, so I could walk all the way around & get a taxi from the bottom end of Bowlee.

I’m not. I’ve been to Manchester for a grand total of 6 hours in my life prior to this. Thanks for the Prestwich tip!

I’m reading this thread and being a bit mmm so I need to be concerned and then remember I’m from Pompey 😆

Will be fine but in general, if you can be arsed, walking back into town is quicker after the gig.  All transport is over subscribed on way home from Heaton Park.

Irs 3.5 mile so an hour and ten minutes if not in shiters staggering mode.

That’s not hideous. We walk back 4 miles after victorious each night when it’s on. We’re staying at burrs country park in our camper so hoping north is a bit less busy.
