The concerns around Transmt are about their support for Irish republicanism than the Gaza situation.  The toxic atmosphere between both sides of the sectarian argument added to the alcohol and drug fuelled crowd could be a disaster. At least their gig that’s going ahead in the city will have an audience that’s there just to see and enjoy them.

Not to mention the particular dates of the weekend trnsmt falls on… which was the running joke when they were initially announced, recipe for a disaster!

That’s right, forgot about that

Controversial edgy Irish group replaced by English heartthrob singer at Scottish festival is the way it’s been reported.

Disagree. They’ve been republicans since they started. Why the cancellation now? Why not right after they were announced? Well we know why.

Christ hahaha didn't notice. Well at least they had them on the 11th and not the 12th however I'm sure all the drunken boneheads looking for a punch up would view that as a mere technically.

Something different. I watched reality TV show 'Uncharted' on the RTÉ player last night (national broadcaster; player only works within Ireland). This had the group and the show host trekking on foot through the Arctic for five days. It was filmed some months ago. Nice to hear them speak as opposed to being spoken about. Biggest surprise was to hear them sing! Found a clip (good audio) of them singing the same song at a film event, originally posted by actor Stephen Rea.

From Arctic trekkers to rappers with pipes… what can’t Kneecap do?

While I don't disagree that the past few months have massively influenced the decision, I do think there's a far more pronounced risk of something kicking off at a Glasgow festival, given the nuanced backdrop, so I reckon the security concerns are legit.

Just had a look at Kneecap's merch on their site and they've got a Glasto flag on there. Literally called "Glasto flag". That indicates to me they haven't been told they're off the lineup

Can't see that on their site?

Looks like its a limited release and only shipping on the 16th, which is probably why they've turned off international.

Special item for everyone going to Glastonbury - spread the word!

Limited to 100 units only.

40x70cm

This item is on pre-order and will ship from 16th June, so you'll have it right before Glasto.

I think there's also the situation of it being quite small in comparison. At Glastonbury you could legitimately have no idea they're on and stay away if you werent interested, but at the main stage of a regular day festival people just stay even if they're not interested in the act or even worse in this case could actively antagonise the crowd
