The Other Stage has one of the best atmospheres of any festival stage I've been to. Confidence Man this year, CRJ last year, Foals in 2022 - I could go on. The amount of absolute party sets that place hosts every year is phenomenal

Over the years I’ve had a blast at Chems,  Hot Chip, Avril, The Streets, Bloc Party, Jamie T, Glass Animals, Fred, TLDP, Vampire Weekend.

It’s a great stage.

Especially since the new sound system was installed.

I rate the other stage, think it's easy to give it a hiding cause it has less of a theme compared to some of the other stages. 100% agree with you some of the best acts I have ever seen at the festival have been on the other

Agreed. I was totally blown away by Pet Shop Boys performance and in particular, the incredible sound from way back.

I doubt it. Its all on Hayley since she is essentially Paramore lol. Well their new record deal wont reflect that finally but thats how it was. If she wants to do her thing, then that all thats happening. Theyll finish whatever theyre doing as a band when its time. As much as they couldve been writing new songs they have their own timeline.

Am i the only person who thinks it's strange the part about finally getting the chance to play solo shows is striked out...?

Why is the second paragraph struck through?

This is why (lol) I'm wondering about what the plan is. Is listing the plan to play solo shows a hint its not figured out yet?

I still think the idea of playing both Paramore and solo shows could work, depending on the scale of each commitment, but I guess we'll find out soon enough. It's more plausible it'll be one or the other but we'll see what's announced soon enough.

Yeah that was the first year I noticed the sound being much better further back, we walked through at the back on the way to Charli XCX and saw Suburbia and then saw the last song on our way back afterwards. Hugely regret not just staying as that was the instinct and wasn't a fan of her show at all, but were meeting friends.

Did they add more speaker stacks? I don't remember the back row before but maybe just never stood that far back before

Would love a headliner announcement soon as a wee new year gift😊

Given this forum's been relatively quiet with Xmas/NY (understandably), that would fire things up quite a bit. Unlikely though ha - feels like it's not very often we get many big announcements in January.

itll pick up when people go back to work ... its always a bit of a lull now while people digest the mince pies .... cant recall any Jan announcements , but I guess as weve had nothing really there is still a possibility

It’s more hope than expectation I reckon. Could do with a few self confirms by error, a few morsels thrown our way 😊😉.  At least give  us something tangeable to discuss or we’ll end up talking about the right way to hang a toilet roll as we did in the dark days of lock down.

Not much, but some little bits.

I'm not 100% on that 1st January 2004 one, the link is dated then but when reading it, it sounds later in the year?

I seem to remember getting my ticket to The Killers in January 2017, and that it was in the same week U2 announced a Joshua Tree 30 year anniversary tour. It's not unprecedent but it's not frequent either.

Maybe someone will try it but I'm aware it's not frequent to get big announcements in early-mid Jan while Christmas is still being paid off by many people.

I don't know what they did. But I was mouth-opened for 75% of that gig and absorbing every minute, knowing it might be my last for a while. I knew about 5 PSB tunes. The appreciation I had for them after that wad incredible. I could feel the prestige and brilliance of a world class act. And that sound... wow!

I don't remember without checking who else I watched on Other that year, but I remember questioning during that set - have they suddenly installed the best sound system ever, or do PSB just typically produce this kind of output, clarity and power! Either way, I was gone. Those emotional Glasto Sundays, man.

Mushroom chocs certainly enhanced the overall experience 😇

I'd have em headline the whole thing. It would be magnificent.

It’s just a bit characterless though that’s a bit less of an issue since they upgraded the stage. If you get bearish the front it’s brilliant, if you get stuck at he back in the breeze it can be pretty cold, literally and figuratively.

    • We head out in the morning. Couple of nights in New York then up to Boston. Enjoy the games lads and hopefully we get some great football to take our minds off the whole shitshow off the pitch.
    • White Stripes/QotSA at Harewood 2007, Tramlines (and Blue Dot, same weekend) in '23, and Elbow at Jodrell Bank '13.
    • Yeah exactly, the shock moments, group layouts, etc all end up playing out differently once you get into the tournament. However you tweak it, you don't predict shocks.
