Las Vegas recycles 97% of their water. Let me know if Worthy Farm can do that.

Maybe you didn't realise or have only visited on hot weekends but Worthy Farm is not lacking in the precipitation department.  Those fields are not watered or artificial - that's actual nature right there.

I remember going to the science museum in San Francisco and having a coffee at a table outside. Every table had it’s own gas patio heater blazing away even though we were the only ones sat out.
We looked through the window and saw a massive display on climate change warning of all the catastrophic effects of greenhouse gases. The worrying thing was the staff couldn’t see the irony of it and just said we always have them lit.

It would be a dream to see The Weeknd headline. 2025 he’s announced a new album, new movie, new tour and it’s final chapter under that stage name. A top 5 artist in the world currently in terms of popularity and has mentioned a desire of doing it in the past. An absolute open net for Glastonbury if they were able to do it.

Are similar figures available for California, Utah and Arizona?

I'm aware Las Vegas has earned praise for being able to reduce water consumption but it seems like others need to learn from that.

Honestly the machines can not yet work out what the unidentified item is in the bagging area is - then they are a long way from taking over.

They've already lulled you into a false sense of security! 😂

not everywhere is a desert which demands such extreme conservation. California has a snowpack which feeds the ground water supply. What you really need to examine is the use of the Colorado River and its water. Because 60 years ago they got it wrong with calculating how it should be distributed and thats something thats a big fight between all the states who use it right now. Theres been ideas on how to store more of the rainfall or to be able to redistribute it but the nimby crowd doesnt give a f**k so we are just running in circles.

Whereas the southwest of England is famously a desert

How is climate change affecting the US? Could it go back to the old dust bowl days?

I think there's more qualified people than me around to answer that question.

... I've not even visited the United States so that's probably a further mark against my qualifications.

Yeah mate, this is so bullshit. I've ran over it and the Gila River in Arizona and it was little more than a puddle. Many of you may not know that the Colorado River, which made the Grand Canyon does not reach the sea any more. f**ked up. Meanwhile, when I was in the vicinity of the Gila, huge concrete canals irrigate lush farmland in the middle of the f**king desert. MENTAL.

Wow... just googled this.  The lower 100 miles are now mostly dried up due to hydro-electricity and irrigation canals.  How sad... humans really are a plague on this planet.  f**k humans.

Back on topic - currently watching Katy Perry - Night of a lifetime.  Not my usual Saturday night viewing but it got me thinking, previous progs I've seen like this (A night with Beyonce, Adele - One night only, Ed Sheeran - One night) have all been G headliners.  Will Katy P ever make it back?

Watching now, she's like the OG... utterly enchanting to watch.

And a great soundtrack to wrapping presents with a glass of vino.

Hydro electricity? Well at least they're going renewable.

0% Chance.

Last time at the pyramid she was a fun afternoon act, but her stock is low and I really don’t see a recovery - especially to the point of headliner when there are much fresher acts glasping for it, and a back catalogue of elders with evergreen stock to do it.

She might have another hit or two in her, but I think a low-mid level pop star who is long in the tooth is her level going forwards.

I don't know how well she was received in her spot in 2017 but it does feel like as you say, her stock hasn't really built on those days and if anything has gone backwards judging by how much the singles from her new record seemed to be singled out for a bit of a kicking.

Maybe it's one of those scenarios where seeing her means just going to her own shows at this point.

did you think  Hoover Dam was just there for shits and giggles? There have been other plans for hydro electricity in southern california but red tape always in the way. At least high speed rail to vegas is coming.

Anyway, something something its the dark period before the new year starts up and massive announcements every day.

    • Cool, if potentially completely exhausting, idea.
    • We don't have any choice but I don't need a t-shirt for it! 🙂    On the bright side, it gets it out of the way for a nice 5 year run... notwithstanding wars, new contagious diseases and apocalypse.
