Lost Fred Again and Sam Fender just to make sure the oldies have Stevie and it looks like a classic glasto lineup. Such hard pivots cause the internet is fighting so much lol.

That's a lot of assuming you're doing there.

IF it were true and they said sorry Fred and Sam Fender, we're going with the old Stevie then so what?  Fred and Sam have played the festival more recently and Stevie is one of the biggest stars on the planet.

You'd need to keep it secret until after resale, surely

In an ideal world but I doubt that's likely, even if they released a poster with a gap, it'd clearly be either her or Oasis and the rumour mill would act accordingly. Probably the same if they waited to release the lineup until after the sale. I think the best we can hope for if either of them ever play is for it to come out around now.

Yeah, guess it's not practical to hold it that long.

Just need to stop myself getting my hopes up now, as it's not going to happen!

The absolute scenes if the ‘big announcement’ her fans are anticipating on the last night of the Eras Tour is in fact that she’s playing a festival none of them will be able to attend.

Can a headliner be too good? You want a Pyramid headliner to fill the field, but not to empty all the other ones.

I may enjoy being able to get to the front of any other stage I fancy! If she does play it’s quite likely to be the biggest festival crowd ever, particularly hard on whoever is on the Other Stage. With all the possible downsides on balance it would be a major, lasting boost for the festival.

May as well turn Other Stage into a Henman Hill style watch along of the Pyramid on the big screen.

Don't see any reason Swift would be busier than say Elton. Insanely popular with her fans of course but tens of thousands of ticket holders still wouldn't care.

I was obvs joking about the beam back but I reckon you’re vastly underestimating what a big deal it would be.

It would be the biggest get by the festival ever. The place would go feral for it regardless of whether existing ticket holders or resalers.

I really disagree - my group of 16 is around the right age to go feral, and I think only about half of us would go

Yep. Her record and ticket sales mask the fact a lot of people still don’t like her. It also wouldn’t feel like a ‘last good chance to see a legend in the flesh’ thing like the Stones and Elton was, and Dolly to an extent.

I don't think I am. I was at the eras tour and i saw how hard it was to get tickets. I also know that despite her being unbelievably popular, she also has a lot of people who hate her or don't like her tunes and would be elsewhere, there always is.

Same way that Rolling Stones, Elton or Macca played and had huge crowds but people were still elsewhere

This is probably about right.

It'd be similar to when U2 played, huge "get" by the festival for a megastar act that doesn't do festivals, and lots of media attention / hype - but in the field a crowd that was decent but didn't rank amongst biggest ever. For certain acts, there's always going to be a number of people who made their mind up long ago (often for non-musical reasons) and can't be convinced.

I'm 39 and a bloke so not exactly a prime candidate to be a swifty. I only know 1 song of hers (shake it off) - I'm sure I'm familiar with others from the radio or whatever without knowing it's her. If she is there... I honestly don't know if I'd be there. Depends what the other options are I guess. I don't have any strong desire to go see her, but she is undoubtedly one of the biggest artists in the world.

She’s just finishing a 150+ show mega tour, the most in demand and highest grossing of all time. To then get a one off show off the back of that, possibly the only one, would be absurd. It would generate one of the biggest “I was there” moments of all time.

Shes the biggest streaming artist on Spotify etc and it isn’t even close.

She’s got a massively wide popular appeal - from teens, the millennials who grew up with her music, plus now a much wider older audience now that ahe’s gone stratospheric with the eras tour.

It would essentially become a Taylor Swift takeover, all the press and hype would be around her being there.

Of course there’ll be a chunk of punters watching Mogwaii (insert random band) in Woodsies or whatever, but it would be a ludicrous crowd.
