Just five more full GFS runs to go! Let's see if we can get the temps up on the Sunday.

GATES OPEN & WEDNESDAY

Dry, and scorching at 21-22.

image.thumb.png.caa5a9f5b314d90c3d1a8cc4801b739f.png

Tiny, inconsequential light rain which might not even happen or be noticed. Highs of 25-26.

Temps overnight into Thursday of 15-16.

image.thumb.png.8a40adc4d59d868321fad6b3be944ed8.png

THURSDAY

Completely dry, highs of 17-18. GFS just will NOT play ball over Thursday.

Temps overnight into Friday of 10-11.

image.thumb.png.5bf157572d3bfd87113b3c83a4c50b76.png

Slightly less favourable pressure position, hence the downgrade in temperatures. Latest on the right.

image.thumb.png.f4d5e40779d89a92e095483aa889b908.png

FRIDAY

Completely dry, highs of 18-19. Again a small downgrade on the 00Z.

Temps overnight into Saturday of 10-11.

image.thumb.png.c369566e36061b5a5d39722b5909545c.png

The GFS refuses to back down. Latest on the right.

image.thumb.png.5d726a7a1e812cbfbdc5c3db467ce1a9.png

SATURDAY

Completely dry, highs of 19-20. A match with the 00Z.

Temps overnight into Sunday fall again to 9-10.

image.thumb.png.99efd4dad75b04dfc1004d8979914424.png

Very similar again, latest on the right.

image.thumb.png.a1ff85461d96912f5e5a868f7fcd62b8.png

SUNDAY

Completely dry, highs of 17. A match with the 00Z.

Temps overnight into Sunday up to 13-14.

image.thumb.png.ba27cdfc48adddbf5f6113b04484deb0.png

Very similar again, latest on the right. The GFS wants to keep any higher pressure south until next wee - hence the overnight temps on Sunday. But can it build in sooner?

image.thumb.png.1d9d521ef851d6b670216cd3084a1d48.png

SUMMARY

The GFS is determined it's going to be right about the lower temperatures and refuses to be moved on it. Personally, I demand another couple of degrees - especially on Thursday and Sunday!

Maybe, I didn't realize offside was even in the equation to be fair as I was in the process of collecting my Chinese from the front door at the time and simultaneously reading the weather thread.

Me too, but without the Chinese!! However, it was one of those bullshit ones where its clearly marginal...

A thought on temperatures:

The good weather is being brought to us by high pressure to our West blocking the high pressure to our North. Air spins clockwise around high pressure (and anti-clockwise around low pressure). This means that it's pulling air from the North West (Greenland) and it will be colder than normal. We can hope for lower wind speeds and more sun to warm us up (maybe), but overnights will still be cold.

I'm going to Cardiff to see Foo Fighters tomorrow. This is going to be a super hot driving experience.

Venue itself said that the roof is going to be closed for the show, so I imagine that'll also be quite warm too.

Looks like nearly optimal conditions to me - at very worst a bit of rain maybe Thursday and if we get unlucky perhaps a storm from the continent might get far enough north on Saturday night. Temperature wise, a touch chilly at night but I'll be staying in shorts for sure with maybe a light hoodie in the early hours.

I'm not even packing wellies - even if it rains a bit, my trail runners will be fine.

Seems to be some scope from UKMO, GEM & ECM that we may even see some more improvement to temps over the weekend depending on how the final postioning ends up, but thats a big IF at the moment. I can't see things downgrading again at this point, and worse case (which is still best case regardless) is it remains where its at.

What’s the best app to use during fest … I did use dark sky for a bit … just mainly for checking same day stuff ideally

MET office app is pretty good, albeit with a slightly dated interface. Their rainfall prediction map is decent. I've also used Rain Alarm for years.

I use Weather & Radar app all the time for cycling. Has a great rain radar.

Worked a treat before Sam Fender when it pissed it down. I could see on the app that the rain was about to start, and then stop. We stayed dry AND came out for under a tree at the perfect time.

I said "come on, the sun is coming out in five minutes". No one believed me but THEY DID SHORTLY AFTER.

Solo stuff , old BCNR stuff?    It’s only in November , it’s a bold booking to for someone who has previously had some struggles to come back and play a load of new stuff to crowds that big
    • Wow, Blink-182 back so soon. They’re the band they’ve never booked then. Great booking if they’ve got them.    Deftones, Papa Roach, Knocked Loose   Lamb of God   Blink-182, Avril Lavigne, Good Charlotte   Megadeth   Slipknot, Gojira, Motionless In White   All Time Low
