Possibly carrageenan. https://www.annallergy.org/article/S1081-1206(18)31141-4/fulltext

Could have been sunflower seeds, but I've consumed these before in various forms, so seems unlikely. It does tend to trigger reflux if i have sunflower products. Sesame, peanuts and other nuts trigger reflux with me too. Lots of craft ales can also trigger reflux, which is how this incident started. Just felt like acid reflux, then got progressively worse.

You probably know already but we brewers use a carrageenan extract as a clarification aid during the brewing process.

I didn’t - and that would explain why craft ales can often give me pretty bad acid reflux.
Do you know if there’s a reliable way of finding out which beers have and haven’t used it?

21th June

T-1. One more sleep ( if you can).

The current weather and ground conditions in Pilton are :
*  HFH records 16.0 degrees at 0808 with humidity above 95%. Average temp at time of reading, over the past 21 days, is 18.0. Low of 13.3 and max 25.3 degrees. Consequent tent conditions - getting sweaty with the onset of panting and flatulence.

* RAM jam jar is empty, as expected. Todays duckometer reading is 0.0 mm. The total rainfall in 21 days of June is 28mm. 15mm in a single day. Ducky has gone to the pool.

* Diver is praising like he should.

* Current wind condition - still. Miss Pat is currently reading Pyramid stage.  Al Ci, 1 okta.

* Sticky stick has left for Portugal in his bus. The Well retreats into obscurity. Ground condition is Large black dog eating rabbit scut, with the sound of buzzards thermalling.

And that’s a wrap folks! Arlo, Pilton Digger and I will see you at the village fete tomorrow. Less pants, more party…… and remember to wear sunscreen.
