Bonnie Tyler is in the news. Which made me check - she’s on tour and free most of June.

Saw her at Proms in the Park before covid. She got hoisted up in a cherry picker about 50 foot in the air, pissed off her face and crucified total eclipse....on second thoughts that might actually quite entertaining to see again.

I went to see Clapton before I realised about him inspiring Rock Against Racism.  So firstly, I wouldn't see him now because of his views.  But also, it was the most bored I have ever been at a gig.  No engagement with the audience (he literally did not say anything all night).  I would have had more fun staying at home putting a CD on (it was a few years back!).  Wouldn't cross the road to see him.

John Fogerty is playing Stornoway, Midnight Sun Weekender at the end of may according his own website. He's also doing a festival in the Netherlands early june. More dates to follow but i bet he will be back home when Glastonbury starts ........

It would be a hard pass from me

I wouldn't be massively fussed, would think about popping along if nothing else was on and the kids wanted a break.

As I've said he probably fits the criteria better than anyone else mentioned recently.

Does this date make him the front runner now?

I really think it does. A 60-year career, selling over 250 million records worldwide, 10 number one albums and 31 top-ten singles in the UK, 6 of which reached number one. I reckon that's as good as anything available.

    • I guess we'll just have to wait until videos of the shows go up, but the fact that the standing is also greyed out still suggests to me that those sections just sold out out before the others and a blue block just be like 3 tickets left, it's still not concrete proof they never went on sale and if they were never on sale why would they not make it even, if 414 wasn't on sale then you'd think 409 wouldn't be either
    • Selfish, but I've done the 2 days I'm there.. i'll try to do the rest through the day but might get beaten to it as it's editable....    https://clashfinder.com/s/ape2026/
    • I don’t think the festival automatically ‘need’ to have a female headliner if you have strong female headliners on the Other Stage (which I reckon will be Rosalia and Phoebe Bridgers), perhaps a female legend (praying for Annie, will take Cher), and a few female/mix gendered subs on the Pyramid (maybe London Grammar, The xx). From what I’ve seen of Sabrina, her team prioritises the pay day and I think she will be doing Wembley over Glasto weekend.   One thing I’ve noticed is a lot of the suggestions would be first time headliners and I can’t work out when the last time was that the festival had three artists top the bill that hadn’t topped it before? It seems to be something they like to do to make sure they have a ‘safe’ headliner that will land well with the masses. Plenty of names in that hat that could step back up next summer and should/could be about: Billie Eilish, Adele, Foo Fighters, The Cure, Radiohead, U2…hell, if Beyoncé is really planning to release a ‘rock n roll’ album to complete her Renaissance trilogy, Glastonbury would be a great place to ‘kick off’ that campaign for her.   And there’s always the Rihanna rumour. Her husband (I think) said this week she’s in the studio.
    • And all (or all but one) of the secret sets repeats though?
    • 1. Coming with my sister (our 4th Sziget together) 2. 3 days (Thursday-Saturday). Would rather do Tuesday-Thursday but not enough AL 😞 3. Wednesday evening  4. Apartment  5. FATM (will be my 10th Florence’s gig) 6. Parcels/Paris Paloma
