Christ, its so balanced. There really isnt many bands could balance two nights no-repeats and not have people feeling short-changed, i'd marginally prefer night two but night one is bangers as well!

Seeing them in Cardiff on Sunday, albeit it’s a one-off there, so fewer deep cuts. Looking forward though, and to main support - Gojira

I'm doing Hampden. Looking forward to seeing Gojira, as a massive Godzilla fan. I had a ticket to see them in 2004 and got sidelined by work. Since then, all of the Glasgow gigs sold out quite quick. This is a LONG time coming.

Lily Allen at Nottingham Arena tonight. Theatre more than gig, it was interesting, but I didn't love it. But then I don't think I'm her target audience. Felt a bit cheated by the 'support' - 6 cellos (I think - not a classical expert), playing songs from her back catalogue, with lyrics up for people to shout along to. Might've been better with more of a mix of strings, so you could pick the melodies out. All a bit too low register for my dodgy hearing. Also very short gig - Lily was on for no more than an hour, and didn't engage with the audience at all - like I said, theatre, or more a series of vignettes. Also swelteringly hot in there tonight.

Never liked Paramore but really liked Hayley Williams solo stuff, supported by Water From Your Eyes aswell!    tour was far to small venue wise so impossible to get tickets -  anyone go?  keen to here how it was

35,000 Goths wilted in the sun, but what a gig The Cure superb as always. Bit of a struggle in the heat but worth it when one of the greats play

Katy Perry in Malahide last night...not my usual gig, but par for the course when you have an 11 year old daughter! 😀 (no queues for the bar at this one!)....Having said that, she was bloody brilliant from start to finish, seriously impressed with her. She could comfortably headline with that set (wall to wall bangers, which she played to 90k plus in Lisbon earlier in the week). Thoroughly enjoyable night all round. The Cure tomorrow night to regain my street cred! 😛

It was superb. Fair play to the organisers for not relenting to the 'cancellation mob' and putting measures in place to cater for the weather (which actually wasnt too bad once the show started)

i hugely enjoyed her set on the Pyramid the other year, and i ain't ashamed to admit it!

I've had that before - storm knocked out all the train lines to London when I had tickets to a Wolf Alice gig in 2022. That was pretty deflating.

Yep, given that the festival has now lost its hesitance to put pop at the top of the pyramid, she would likely command a more prominent slot if she returns. She really was excellent last night and great fun (my daughter and her friend had an absolute blast and danced themselves silly all night!...plenty of chaperone Dad's who gave up trying to be cool and were bouncing like idiots by the end as well!...ok, I was one of them😀).

I hate to burst the bubble tbf. I keep going on about trips I had to festivals in Paris and Madrid in 2018, which is also not exactly recent anymore.

Honestly, before I saw her I would have thought the same...but that was a headline performance last night in every way. My wife's cousin was there too, he's only watched Metallica and Radiohead on the pyramid, absolutely hates pop (and didn't enjoy Radiohead either!), but his missus wanted to see Katy so he brought her to see her last night. He too was blown away. I honestly can't believe I'm banging a drum for this, never would have imagined it! 😀

A long time coming, but I finally seen Metallica last night at Hampden! The iffy sound could do nothing to bring down my joy and excitement for the whole show. Never expected to hear "Hit the Lights" so that was a nice wee inclusion. The rest was about what I expected, and I'm glad it was.

The Black Crowes at Manchester Albert Hall last night.

 

Possibly the sweatiest gig I've ever been to, but absolutely superb. A much smaller venue than they usually play, bit of a warm up for a series of festival shows. Chris was clearly loving it, and we got 2 of their very best with Wiser Times and Thorn In My Pride.

Support was Leah Blevins, not great. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt though as it was just her and her brother on acoustic guitar, and the sound wasn't great. Maybe she'd be better with a full band.

They were excellent as always. I get that this is a summer festival tour, but was really hoping for Songs of a Lost World to feature heavily but alas, more of a greatest hits/Festival set (last time I saw them the new album wasn’t even out yet and they played 5 from it! Kinda wanted to hear them again now that I’ve lived with the album for a bit). I’m definitely in the minority amongst my mates though, they loved last night and were less impressed with the previous gig at the 3 Arena. If I could pick a recent setlist, then the one from North Festival a couple of weeks ago would win (mainly as they played a 17 Seconds set including my favourite Cure song…M). Hopefully they’ll come back (3 Arena again) and mix it up a bit! Still brilliant all the same mind you!

Belle and Sebastian doing tigermilk at kelvin Grove bandstand Glasgow last night. 

Seeing belle and Sebastian live is always an uplifting experience but to see them last night was truly joyous 

The bandstand is a fantastic place and will definitely be back when right artists appear .

I've seen them few times but this was my favourite

Alanis Morisette at Powderham Castle on a gorgeous sunny Friday night. Loads of fun and a fantastic venue. There with friends who knew every word, and I was happy enough joining in on the best known ones! Was really impressed with her voice and stage presence. She’s a much better singer than I’d anticipated and still sounds brilliant. 
 

Also finally got to see The Big Moon live - they were 3rd support and absolutely brilliant. Wish they’d had more of a crowd but their music sounded just as good as I hoped it would after listening to it over the last few years. Missed them twice at Glastonbury due to clashes, so feel very lucky to have finally caught them. 
 

Pale Waves and Skunk Anansie also supporting. All excellent and great energy (we didn’t know who else was playing when we booked Alanis). Would def go back to the venue though it’s a pain to get to unless you have a mate who lives nearby….

I was looking at powderham for Lewis but its a long old trip just for 1 overnight stop.

Garbage/Skunk Anansie at Cardiff Cardiff on Monday. Both were great in different ways. Garbage sounded better but Skunk were more entertaining. Skin was fantastic all might. 

 

The Cure at Blackweir on Wednesday. Excellent as always - the 10th time I've seen them. There was probably in the top 3. I remember seeing them at Hyde Park in 2018 and thinking they couldn't beat that for an outside show. This was somehow better - brilliant setlist, only negative is they did nothing from SOALW. Amazing stuff considering the temperature on the day too.
