Seeing Lewis there tonight ,  Doing red parking so no idea what to expect ? Any other tips ? How was organisation and bar and food queues ?

Enjoy! All felt pretty well organised. Thought venue was great. We took shuttle bus to race course and got picked up there so not sure re parking. Plenty of food and water refills. They open the top bit early but the main gates down into venue opened 4:30 so you’d need to be there then if you want to run to be at the front! Otherwise it’s all pretty chilled, and seemed to be plenty of space for everyone. We were at front for Alanis then moved to back for encore so we could make a speedy exit - worked pretty well.

Went yesterday to State Fayre (Saturday) and we have a fantastic time. Very well run, compact site and saw some great acts - Sienna Ferrell, Kip Moore, Carolice Grace, Jack Savoretti before the big guns of Skunk Anansie and Alanis Morrisette. Helped that it was a bit cooler tempreturewise than the Friday apparently. The BBQ was amazing and shuttle bus to and from Chelmsford was absolutely fine. Not overly packed either. As I'm pretty local anyway, it was good to have it back as a fomer Vfesitval regular back in the day. I was told by someone there it was coming back next year - interested to see if they stick to the same weekend again.

Thoroughly enjoyed Garth Brooks, Zac Brown Band and Ashley McBryde at BST Hyde Park last night all three on top form, and really do love the set up at Hyde Park

Well Metallica what can I say….  I’m not 100% if I liked the stage set up think I prefer a traditional stage, but Christ there’s some power and energy when this lot play

Hazza Friday night. Very endearing from him and joyous from the crowd, much more dancey than expected. Would make a great headline set.

Possibly the sweatiest gig I've ever been to, but absolutely superb. A much smaller venue than they usually play, bit of a warm up for a series of festival shows. Chris was clearly loving it, and we got 2 of their very best with Wiser Times and Thorn In My Pride.

Support was Leah Blevins, not great. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt though as it was just her and her brother on acoustic guitar, and the sound wasn't great. Maybe she'd be better with a full band.

Was there too and totally agree with all the above.  They were amazing and obviously enjoyed it despite the heat (seriously it was so hot, you could literally wring my clothes out at the end!)  Opening to Remedy got everyone moving and the setlist was great. Felt very lucky to see them at such a small and beautiful venue.

Metallica in Cardiff on Sunday. I had doubts about the stage setup, but seeing it in its full glory I thought it worked well, helped by having the roof closed. Supports Knocked Loose and especially Gojira got the crowd going, but Metallica were outstanding

The pictures and videos I’ve seen from the stands make me think it would have been a better visual experience than on the pitch, if I was to go again on this tour I’d get seated tickets

Problem is loads of people complained about shite sound in the seats. 

 

Also the danger of a seat is you get stuck beside a group of chatty twat c*nts and you cant move

Lewis Capaldi Sunday at Powderham castle nr exeter … he was great the anniversary of his reappearance at Glastonbury after not completing his set the year before shed a few tears again . Warmup Jacob alon who I felt was a little meh but looked like many others liked him . Few challenges leaving the carpark 1hr and 1/4 but guess that’s to be expected . Food queues were also a little bonkers . Overall great though and nice to have some music on what would have been Glastonbury weekend

We were about halfway up the North Stand. I wasn’t sure what the view would be like (I best-guessed that there wouldn’t be one of the huge video screens directly in front of us) and it worked out perfectly, great view and the sound was spot on too, albeit not so much for the opening bands - which is often the case!

On the other hand they played Delilah.

 

I was on the pitch and agree the staging is not great. There were times when I couldn't see the band at all. Other times when they were close enough to see the whites of their eyes. Sound in the stadium was not great, I think coming from so many sources and so much echo it lacked clarity.

 

That said, Metallica still absolutely at the top of their game and showing no signs of slowing down. Awesome.

Enjoyed Paul Weller at Dreamland, Margate last night. After a bit of a rough week went with no real expectations but he was very good, sounded great and I always like the venue. Did over 2 hours. Miles Kane supporting was decent too (had never really made the effort to listen to him before tbh).

 

p.s. grumpy git moment was folk talking throughout - possibly as we stayed a bit further back than I normally would. At the extreme, one group talked shite all the way through as though they'd just bumped into each other in the supermarket. Ended up with a space around them as folk kept moving away!

but Mrs -TLR- went to Def Leppard and Extreme the other day and said it was fantastic.

 

which surprised us both because neither of us like Def Leppard and she only went as a mate ended up with a spare ticket.

Robyn at the O2 on Friday night with Mrs Q.  Bugger me but she was fantastic (Robyn that is 😄).  New material sounded great, wheeled out some older stuff (Fembot a particular surprise highlight), whole thing was a massive party. Her voice was way better than I expected, not that I was expecting it to be bad but had loads of welly behind it, and she absolutely owned the stage. Zero f**ks to give.

 

With the new album and tour cycle I'm hoping for a slot next year.  Think she was down to headline Woodsies in 2020, but based on Friday night I reckon she's got the chops and the crowd to smash an Other headline slot.

Duran at Hyde Park last night. Never seen them before, and they exceeded expectations by quite a margin. I am now totally on board with the idea of them headlining the pyramid. They would slay it.

- Def Leppard/Extreme @ O2 - massive sing along. Watching Nuno shred was out of this world

- Alabama Shakes @ Alexandra Palace - good to watch, not a massive fan but went with a friend who loves them

- Kasabian @ Finsbury Park -  sun was shining, cider was flowing and the energy was there. Mental day

-Metallica @ London Stadium - the day that I knew more of the songs so I enjoyed it. Was quite a spectacle,

Missed Shania on Friday due to traffic so pleased when she turned up on Saturday.

 

Friday night - almost every one invested in the gig. Great atmosphere. 
Saturday night - half the people there are just doing ‘something’ - aren’t they?
