As in, they aren't too big to play a slot that isn't pyramid headliner.

But they've only really been taking headliner spots. I can't see them being a Pyramid sub, as that list is way too full, same with Other headliner.

Foo Fighters love playing small shows alongside big shows.

Usually it has been with album releases. And fortunately theyve mostly all happened in my backyard. Been able to see them 3 times that way. Nothing like a dive bar foos show. Just sucks I couldnt go get tix for the tuesday show.

I've seen US acts do this a few times and it's mostly a hype/publicity thing rather than anything practical (and often they do lots of press that week, so it serves a dual purpose).

I mean Nine Inch Nails ''breaking up'' was totally a hype thing back in 2009.

Was Elton ever in serious consideration for headliner? I remember some chatter about it pre-covid and he's an absolutely perfect fit as this is his last run of things. Would be a huge celebratory set too.

On paper he's perfect, but for whatever reason there has never appeared to be that much desire on either side to book.

A big announcement on what would have been the opening day of the festival... Nah, pure coincidence. More likely is he's either adding more dates or shifting his current ones again.

I really can't see that, most acts who pop up as a surprise are normally artists with a major connection to the festival.

That's such a weird tour though, all London dates with venues going up in size, not seen something like that all released on the same time.

Nine Inch Nails in 2009 when they ''broke up''. Here in LA they did 4 gigs, venues ranged from 500 cap to 4000. It was a fun week.

I don’t think he’s ever expressed interest in doing it nor the festival expressed interest in getting him.

Maybe there’s been a firm “ no thanks” a few years ago and they don’t see him as the right target?

Download really shot themselves in the foot rushing to secure Kiss and Biffy Clyro. Especially with Metallica and NIN around.

Metallica

Iron Maiden

NIN

would have been such a good “we’re back” lineup for them.

That hellfest lineup is shit hot.

I wonder what chance there is of any of them appearing at the farm. It’s logistically close enough..

Well we’ve now got the small metal stage that we had Gojira on in 2019 so I’d imagine there’s a strong chance that a couple of the acts could be at Glastonbury (if it sticks around). Couldn’t even hazard a guess at who mind, as Gojira came our of absolutely nowhere and I’m guessing it largely depends on who they can convince to play this tiny stage in the hidden corner of the festival.

Welp the NIN dream of next year might be over already as this is saying they’re a European exclusive for Hellfest, although not sure where they’ve got that info from:

Genuine question - will “European exclusive” include the UK moving forward? Would the contracts define Europe as a geographical term or political one? I reckon we could see some of these exclusives pop up over here in the future.

I've got no idea whereabouts he'd go on the bill, but would love to see Alice Cooper turn up on the farm.

Also from that Hellfest poster Bad Religion are another name I'd love to see.

Alice Cooper would go down nicely. Seems perfect for the Rock slot as played by Motörhead.
