It's a poor do for modern music.  Three acts: one of which hasn't released an album for 13 years, one split up 10 years ago and the other is dead. 

 

And the only chance for a band who could release new music hasn't made a good record for nearly 30 years!

Not really.  Although it does depend to a point on how people have voted, it's about the greatest headliners over a 50 year period. Given what was being released and when I'd say the Cure are the biggest anomaly in there.  REM were still going strong in 99 and (just about) 2003, and Bowie released an incredible album very late in the day.

Don't think the list is any the poorer for not having a "new" band up there
