For the parents in here, have you ever punished a child and then made them apologise to their sibling but you can tell that they don’t really mean it

It reminds me a lot of this

This can't be enough to let that slide. He can't be allowed to continue, to potentially pardon anyone involved (including himself and his family) in this on his last day. He will just incite more hatred after he leaves office and if the Democrats have to sort it out it will end up in civil war.

If we take the parent analogy it needs to be his parents (the Republicans) who put an end to it. Nobody ever takes kindly to someone else's parents punishing their kid even if their kids is a little punk who deserves it.

So is that it, will nothing happen now? Seems a bit of a cop out.

Impeachment proceedings still going ahead, right? It might not get anywhere, although considering the risk he put people of the senate in, you’d hope (perhaps foolishly) that some Republicans would stand up for what’s right this time.

Current talk amongst the MAGA/Q lot is that the concession video from Trump is actually a deepfake and the real Trump is plotting something.

Also the woman who died in the senate is actually still alive and it was all a deep state cover up.

Read this on furlough; it's about a team of psychologists who infiltrated a UFO cult in order to invent the concept of cognitive dissonance.

Anyway, despite it being written in the 195os, the QAnon lot are acting exactly as predicted. The book basically says that once the prophecy fails, the believers will actually double down harder, as opposed to just admitting that they may have been wrong all along...

That seems to be the way it is. White people think they are entitled to do what they want. I will never, ever take America seriously when it tries to act like a moral authority on anything again!

That’s what happens when you brainwash your kids into thinking America is the greatest country in the world.

It is just a cult that happens to have the largest military and nuclear capability.

Yep blind patriotism to me is as scary as blind faith in religions. You can't accept the good about people being all down to where they are from unless you are willing to accept the bad is the same.

Out of upvotes, but that was really well put. Couldn't agree more

The sheer balls of the man to one day call on the VP to over turn an election, which he has no power to do, and then two days later say he was trying to protect democracy

Nah nah man Trump knows what he’s doing. He’s playing chess man, he’s playing chess I promise! This is exactly how everything was meant to happen!

if he gets removed from office he loses the benefits that come with it after leaving. no secret service, no yearly stipend ( $1,000,000 ) and no memorial service at arlington.

Also as someone pointed out on Twitter it means that when kids ask why was Mike Pence president for 2 days they hear a story about how white supremacy & facism are threats to democracy and will hopefully learn to reject facism.

How likely is it he will be removed from office? These kind of people seem to have a habit of getting away with their actions.

Probably not very, unfortunately, as the same people who stopped it happening last time he was impeached will undoubtedly stop it happening this time. The only hope this time is that they’ve now been on the receiving end of his idiocy and rhetoric and so may realise he needs to be removed.

From what they were saying if the go the 25th amendment route they could effectively keep him out of power until after his term finishes which is the most important thing but yes I think it's very important that he isn't able to get away with it. However him staying in power and pardoning everyone who has been arrested so far on his last day would be the biggest kick in the teeth of democracy.
