If people are thinking the same as the question I’m sure they can use their logic and realise once you’ve had both jabs of you can’t hug whoever you want then you won’t be able to ever!

I think that's Whitty's point, there isn't enough people that have had their 2nd dose so it's not yet safe enough to do so, he was only talking about Easter.

That would help Euro countries to speed up:

The US pharmaceutical company Johnson & Johnson will begin delivering vaccines to European countries on April 19. The company announced on Monday. The Johnson & Johnson vaccine received the green light from Brussels for use in the EU on March 11th. It is the fourth corona vaccine after the vaccines from Biontech / Pfizer, Moderna and Astrazeneca that has EU-wide approval.

No it won't to be frank...  It will feel great if we can get back to normal on a national scale.

Haven't heard this comment from the Senior EU member here, but seems to be an idiot, but would not take it very serious.

But would`t either be sure that there will be no travel between UK and mainland as today the EU presented their vaccination pass which will be in place from 15 June as most people will have access to vaccination by then. see below.

One assumes the UK will be getting doses at the same time?

I can’t remember how many J&J we had on order / delivery schedule? Seem to remember mid - late April mentioned though.

daily reminder

This. I'm okay with not having any holidays abroad this year if UK is gonna be back to normal.

Agree with this. Saw on the news a while back that the antipodes have basically sacrificed foreign travel for nomral domestic life. Seems a good trade to me (and I would normally never holiday here).

yeah, don`t know about the exact j+j schedule/delivery time for the uk ... maybe Mr. Duck can help for that.

in the eu its not the most important but can not be underestimated as its a one shot vaccine and the EU ordered more than the Novavax.

For whole Europe the J+J order-schedule is rather confusing.

I think that Italy are building much hope on the J+J as they are awaiting 50 Mio. in the 2nd quarter and 80 Mio in the 3rd quarter (Germany ordered 10 Mio, Austria only ordered 2,5 Mio for the 2nd quarter)

As far as I've seen, there's been no definite timescales mentioned either by the Government or the company themselves. I can't remember the exact wording, but the closest there's been is a government statement that vaguely said it was due in the second half of the year.

In other words, unless something changes, odds are that it's not arriving until it's no longer relevant to us.

Whitty says even after two doses of vaccines grandparents should not hug grandchildren at Easter

Q: If people have had both doses, why shouldn’t they hug their grandchildren at Easter. They are as safe as they will ever be.

Whitty says having two doses provides protections. But vaccines also offer protection by reducing the amount of virus in transmission. He says that protection will not fully be in place.

He says younger people not be vaccinated, and will be meeting people who aren’t.

And he says it takes time for the second dose to take effect.

My Parents are not going to be paying attention to this

Is his point not that people are still going to spread the virus, and unvaccinated people might still catch it?

Like it's always going to be going forward.

Sounds reasonable, the points he raises are valid and will probably be quite a big help to people that are thinking the some as the question. It's a nice reminder of why we need to keep to the rules for a bit longer.

It doesn’t sound reasonable to me. Irrational, yes. Not reasonable.

Potentially some supporters at one of the FA Cup semi finals? https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/56566256

Will give an indication to the future - I just worry that there will be a time you need to be in the ground hours before kick off getting fleeced for a beer or a bottle of water.

    • I am very possibly wrong about this but I do think that the pitch you get allocated appears to be related to your time of arrival, (i.e. you get the next one available) rather than the price you paid for a small, medium or large pitch.  They all appear to be the same size to me.
