I am so angry with the utter shite Boris is spinning and how spiteful they are being towards Manchester who basically put together a well thought our reasonable regional solution, but they just couldn't be seen to concede - sickening!!

What's even worse is bloody Spoons stays open when some of the best pubs and bars are forced to close across Manchester :(

According to analysis by real estate adviser Altus Group, the new rules will force 1,809 pubs across the ten boroughs to temporarily close.

A further 143 bars will also have to shut their doors until restrictions are relaxed.

Businesses forced to shut can claim Government grants of between £1,334 and £3,000 for every month they are closed, depending on the rateable value of their premises.

Also, no talk of any exit plan

Grub Mcr doing sterling work on their Instagram tonight trying to match up food traders with pubs so that they can offer a substantial food offering and stay open.

I can see them doing this - Labour needs the whole 5 years and could probably put something together to win in that time, but they won't be united enough to inspire confidence; so Tories would probably win any election in the next couple of years

Rubbish. If there was an election now they'd lose their majority. Do you think anyone in the North would vote for them after today?

Labour wouldn't win a majority either, it would be a hung parliament.

Tories will hope that 4 years will be long enough for people to forget what a massive fuck up they've made. No chance of an election in the next 2 years.

Whilst I hope we are in the early pages of a Kier Starmer chapter I would disagree with this. There are still plenty in the north who will vote for them. Theres been a bit of a Tory awakening in the north in the past 5 or so years.

Give it 6 months of brexit related restrictions and they’ll soon turn on the Tories.

Sadly the North doesn’t remember sometimes

Take Brexit off the table and there isn't. The Tories have just made Europe and immigrants scarier than the Tories...

We’l see. I just think tories are very good at campaigning and getting it over the line whatever the circumstances.

Kier’s Labour Party is very promising for positive change. I think it’s more likely that the northerners the tories picked up will vacate to whatever party Nigel and Lawrence Fox are pushing at the time. I don’t know how many will swing from Conservative to Labour.

They will go back to hating the old enemy soon enough.

That ‘hardcore socialist Twitter left‘ are moaning about Keir and saying Burnham is showing what a real Labour leader looks like. They can never stop the infighting, can they?

I’m very baffled by the inter party rejection of Starmer.

Really? Corbyn was largely popular with a certain demographic for how committed he was to his beliefs and how he wore his heart on his sleeve etc (for better or worse).

It's no surprise that a certain portion of the party haven't taken to someone who doesn't seem to take much of a stand on anything at all.

And basically lied to them in the leadership election. Fine if people think he’s doing a good job, but it’s understandable why some are sour on him. I personally am not a fan, but I wish him well.

Also nothing new- whoever the leader is, some will not like them- that’s fine, that’s life!

I'm sure the tories will want to keep the culture war going....but at moment Starmer isn't biting. The economy may become centre stage the next few years though...and an already badly underfunded state battered by brexit and covid could be really bad news for the tories.

The other big issue over the next few years could be the union...which couldactuall  make life difficult for labour.
