Well I wont be isolating in a similar position put it that way.  They can get fucked.

I will take precautions like daily testing but there is no way now.

There is a difference in being pinged that you might have been in contact with somebody who has the virus in a crowded space, vs being actually sat in a room with somebody who has the virus for a number of hours. Surely it’s highly likely Johnson and Sunak picked it up given the circumstances, and they could now be going round actually spreading it.

I wonder how many of the 500,000 people who were pinged this week by the app will take up the option instead now they've seen this? How do you even get on the trials? It takes the absolute piss

It’s a complete joke, they expect all of us to isolate and play by the rules but when it happens to them they invent new rules to get round it. They hold us all in utter contempt.

I think being PM and Chancellor is probably a big help

We've had a single case of Covid at my school I work at and that whole class is off now. That class is a  year 2 class that won't get a leavers day before they go to their middle school. Meanwhile these guys get free pass out of it. Our head is now going to write to the council to see if they can amend their policies to something similar to this so we can keep the school open even if its only for 4 days. Its just completely messed up

This is what happens when the government continually get let off the hook for everything, they become so brazen and arrogant that they feel they can do whatever they like.

I think this will probably be the final straw for many people and they might just ignore it, especially when those who are double jabbed avoid isolating in a little over 3 weeks

And if half the government was isolating you’d be moaning that they’re trying to hide away at an important time.

Barnard castle Part 2, both in terms of shamelessness and the fact it will likely critically undermine compliance with the self-isolating thing.

So you mean another case of people getting sick of doing something and looking for any excuse they can to stop doing it.

You guys are absolutely right, this will cause in more people ignoring the app thus spreading the virus around more. They should be showing leadership and that we are all in this together by self isolating not making up new rules to suit them.

THEY’RE IN THE GOVERNMENT WHO SET THE RULES!! They should be living by the rules and being role models and not trying to get round it, that’s what they are supposed to have signed up to. Its part of the social contract.

Stop trying to be contrary for the sake of it and viewing this as a competition where you need to get behind “your team”, we’d all be appalled if it was a Tory, Labour, Lib Dem government

Completely agree, if they're going to do it they should at least try and get out some sort of campaign to say if you end up ignoring isolation please test regularly or something similar

So really you've only got yourself to blame for not becoming PM or Chancellor.

I apologise and will set my career prospects much higher, all I need now is a very shit journalism career, a wife and a mistress and I'm set to go

PM salary is a bit shit to be honest.  Wouldn't bother.

£160K a year to be PM seems alright to me, although it does seem to earn a lot less than other political figures in the country like Marcus Rashford with his millions.

Will be really interested to see who wears a mask from tomorrow and where, I wouldn't want to judge anyone for it though as I think the next few weeks are all about assessing personal risks

It’s shocking PR too if nothing else. How did they envisage this going down with the public - it’s going to be met with widespread dismay and a number of high profile people already jumping all over it on Twitter.
I know they just don’t care in the slightest, but you’d think they would at least try to pretend they do for their imagine .. even a little!

    • Well he is on a rape charge, don't see that one as controversial.    Although Hakimi is in Morocco squad.
    • Electric Callboy just said they'll be touring here next year. I'm not sure there's a poster for it though. I'll look when I'm near some next.      He said we'll see you at Download at a gig before any of the band. Presumably he was trolling. They're in Austria at the moment and Germany tomorrow with a week's break and more shows in Germany. Whilst not impossible to come back here and then go over there again, it seems unlikely.
    • Thomas Partey, knocked back by Canadian immigration now.
    • I'm sure someone can update you on the clashfinder, and it will be pretty accurate by the time the festival comes around. It's a large flat-ish arena with main stage in the open air, no best side I'd say. Leadmill (3rd stage medium tent) is at the back of the main arena, T'Other (2nd stage big tent) 5 min walk round the corner. At full capacity walking around can take a bit more time though. I noticed that The Enemy are scheduled to not fully overlap with Wolf Alice, so you could catch part of their set too.   You can walk around anywhere with a beer, with most bars the usual mass market stuff, but one nice craft ale tent, back of the arena near the Leadmill stage. A main meal will set you back £10-15, but cheaper snacks also available. Expect a pint to be £7-8. Possibly a bit more this year as prices everywhere are increasing.   It's fairly easy to get to from the town centre using the tram, although can be busy at peak times / very busy at curfew. If you like a walk, it's approx 40 mins to Kelham Island (lots of indy venues) and probably an hour to the city, or catch an Uber. There will be loads of 'fringe' music events on around the city right through the weekend. Most are free. Have a wonderful trip, enjoy the festival, and your stay in our city!
    • I think people on a place like this, that clearly value live music more than most, don't. I'd rather an academy than an arena every day. But I could see a few people that care about "the gram" than the actual music wanting an arena experience even if it's a mid sized band.
