Again if its data not dates we should be accelerating the release. Amount of the adult population that has immunity either from the vaccine or exposure is easily the majority.

Why does everyone refer to 'the EU' when talking about stopping the Oxford vaccine? Norway is not in the EU. It's 'some European countries' not the EU. The EU hasn't said anything about it.

Because it’s lazy and easy to just blame the EU. Those people ignore the fact that Norway, Iceland, Indonesia are not in the EU. The EMA has said is safe, individual countries are cautious because several people died after receiving the vaccine. The countries are just pausing to investigate.

Raab was on the news earlier saying this. Seemed to be making a point that it was countries within the EU, not the EU itself, that had put things on hold and said how people should still get their jabs when called as regulators have declared it safe.

That is something a bit different entirely.  I don't think we should stop giving it out but it certainly makes this more of an issue than we first thought earlier today.

I was also going along with the message that the incidence of blood clots was no greater than the general unvaccinated population. There is no one greater than me as a cheerleader for University of Oxford’s Jenner Institute and Oxford Vaccine Group - I’ve  followed the progress of Professor Sarah Gilbert’s team since early last year and have nothing but admiration for her and the team behind the development.

However, @Toiletduck mentioned that it was more nuanced than ‘general’ blood clots so as I respect their expertise I looked beyond the general consensus. This appears to be a cluster of a rare form of blood clot (cerebral venous sinus thrombosis?) in young, healthy people which is unusual. It seems to be linked to a certain batch so it certainly should be properly investigated and not brushed under the carpet. I really, really hope that it turns out to be a random occurrence.

There are no unusual incidents reported in the UK so I agree it’s safe to continue with the vaccination programme but if there was a problem here I would hope that the same due diligence would happen - surely in the long run this increases faith in vaccine rollouts?

It's probably worth repeating that the EMA recommend continued use of the vaccine pending investigation.  Which seems to be an entirely correct response IMHO.

But we have to recognise enforcement is part of it all.

Its been very faltering progress. Attitudes have improved in some areas but rape convictions are falling (I heard 3% of reported rapes result in conviction recently - sorry no source other than the tellybox). 

On the same day that we learned of Sarah Everard my daughter got in her car after a shift at Morrisons around 10pm and some bloke came up to her window and stared in at her. She drove away quickly. What makes it OK in that guys head to scare an 18yr old like that? Will a culture change stop that? Will the police? Maybe both? Something needs to change and it's not just a few more lightbulbs.

I read today that our government declined an offer to add up 1,4 Mio. J+J vaccines but decided to build up their vaccination plan on AstraZeneca and Biotech instead. And so they keep continuing with the AZ as most other countries stopped, coincidence?

What are everyone else’s plans for the next easing/over Easter weekend? I think a walk with friends is needed and garden visits to parents and in-laws.

When the easing was announced I thought we'd be super busy that Easter weekend with both our families wanting to do stuff, but I think it's going to be a bit more slow and steady for us. With it having to be outside and just for a day visit, it was pointed out to me that traffic is likely to be a nightmare that weekend (due to bank hol and lockdown easing) so seeing relatives that live a fair bit away won't be that easy. My family also aren't keen to meet outdoors if cold! 

So at the moment I think I'm definitely seeing one mate for a park visit and maybe a couple more that weekend, but we may well hold off most of our socialising until later in the month, being led by what others want to do.

I actually don't mind reading opposing views as that's what debate is about. But the aggressive hectoring tone of a few who post multiple times a page makes it really unpleasant in here so ignoring seems the best way forward. That way they can still post but I don't have to read it, unless quoted, but somehow that lessens the impact.

It doesn't bother me at all, even on the receiving end of it. Though I've never been bothered about how people say things, only the meaning behind it (I know it affects others though) 

I feel echo chambers should be challenged and sometimes a short insult gets through to me better than a "well reasoned" point when I'm getting mad at something that is in the grand scheme of things ridiculous
