I expect an average of 4.2m a week between now and the end of May. Lowest week is 1.6m W/C 15th March (No AZ supply at all that week) but the highest is 5.9m the week after

Excellent. If we can reach those levels we may even be finished a week early.

Do you recommend we use paracetamol etc when this happens or will riding it out be better in the long run?

Someone said July the other day and I've seen that in a couple of places.

If July is true then we might as well donate them to covax. Pandemic will be long over as a problem in the UK by then.

Covid hospital numbers continuing to drop quickly and at an accelerating rate:

https://www.england.nhs.uk/statistics/statistical-work-areas/covid-19-hospital-activity/

Should be at negligible levels before the end of March.

And a big drop week on week in English hospital deaths:

At this rate the lockdown ending is going to look far too slow.

On the supply issue with vaccines, just my experience, but I'm a newly approved volunteer and can't find a shift on the SJA app for love nor money. I know others have said similar. So would support the idea that there is a bit of a lull in the programme currently.

Having said that the app is horrendous so it might be me!

How long did it take you from signing up to volunteer to get approved/access to the app?

Yup

Nope. It's entirely possible to spend effort on Nonpharmacologic interventions at the same time as putting in all the effort that's going to make any difference to the vaccine rollout.

Especially in a supply constrained situation, it's complete bollocks to portray this as some sort of zero sum game. And it's dangerous, this virus is still killing hundreds of people every day in the UK. Saying that all interventions take away from the vaccine effort could actually cost lives, as could this "nerds" shit. You happy with that? Can you sleep at night talking such crap?

in the US situation ( which is what he is talking about) they don't really have a supply constrained situation though. Its more about finding a way to get the jabs done asap.

It just gets my back up when geeks like Edmunds say 'Oh, the vaccines dont work against the Bristol variant' or 'We should still social distance when everyone has had a jab'. The nerds stuff is just a bit if humour to it.

Id say variant doom porn will do a lot more to stop people taking a vaccine than me calling someone a nerd as a joke.

Im not saying we should burn our face nappies next week. But at the same time i think its counter-productive to be too much of a doomster

Patel wants stricter controls because she is an authoritarian but it has nothing to do with COVID. This is a reaction to the increasingly effective disruption caused by Extinction Rebellion and BLM. I of course oppose this and I think Patel is a very dangerous politician but it's sod all to do with the global pandemic.

It's got everything to do with covid, the pandemic is the excuse to bring about fundamental change to society, as the public realise this there is going to be widespread unrest, this summer will be key, that is why I mentioned protest in my post yesterday. This is not about preventing violent protest, that is already illegal, they are trying to criminalise peaceful protest such as civil disobedience, that is the real threat to them, if enough people protest they cannot get their agenda through. Look at Piers Corbyn, how many times has he been arrested this last year? Was he being disruptive? violent? causing any inconvenience to anyone? His only "crime" was opposing the government narrative on covid, even if you think he's a crackpot, you should be worried about his treatment. If he is a crackpot you have to ask why the government see him as such a threat.

It's not so long ago that Hong Kong was a free democracy, things can get bad very quickly,

I’m very optomistic and I don’t think a Tory govt will keep these restrictions any longer than necessary ... they will see the numbers plummeting and will be having discussions with the scientists I would think ... let’s see what happens with the press conferences this week and the CRG .. and the schools opening ... that will give us an idea of where we are early ... hopefully things can get brought forward ... but we also know how cases can skyrocket ...

Full lockdown is no longer necessary or proportionate.

Boris should announce an that all step 1 unlockings are moved forward to next week, including the outdoor rule of 6.

You make a good point.

I certainly don’t see an issue with outside mixing being allowed.

Let’s face it compliance this weekend has been a shambles. Everyone I speak to is thinking logically and meeting friends / family outside but keeping a safe distance.

    • Based on previous times that rules quite a lot out of early summer festivals into the August runs.
    • No dramas man, I just like to follow others journeys as well. Get the inspiration, give out inspiration and the outdoors is the clear the head place to do it. I'm heading out for a easy trail run today I think, 10k- 10 mile we'll see how we go. I've got a half marathon in October I'm well unprepared for hahs
    • The Cheap Thrills at Mountford Hall, Liverpool.    They've been around for a while and have built up a large local following. Last night was their biggest yet, at a sold out 2,200 capacity venue.    It was a big old joyous, indie singalong from start to finish, the band clearly having the time of their lives. The debut album is out next month and they seem to be going down well on the festival circuit, maybe their time has finally come.   2 supports, I unfortunately missed Credits but the few songs they have on Spotify sound good, Americana vibes. The other was M60, reportedly Gary Neville's favourite band. If that's true, he's as clueless about music as he is football. To be fair, their sound was poor, maybe with a clearer sound they'd have been better but it was pretty dull.
    • I can see them all merging along with the Tory’s . Restore curently couldn’t muster enough candidates to be a viable option . I lasted 4 mins and couldn’t watch any more . Lowe is just dull along with racist
