hmmm

Sturgeon says today’s report will be followed by a document in mid March giving more detail of lockdown easing.

She also says that, although she is setting out plans today, “in the coming weeks, if the data allows and positive trends continue, we will seek to accelerate the easing of restrictions”.

They make you feel better. Same reason you'd take any drug.

It wasn't an unnecessary question, I know plenty of people who avoid meds as much as possible, don't drink or take caffeine or alcohol.

You can obviously draw your dividing line wherever you want and different things work for different people but there's no fundamental difference - drugs is drugs is drugs.

Not true. It's the same line of questioning as "how can you support a fairer global economic system when you've just bought a Starbucks latte?". This thing is not the same as that thing.

My body is equipped to fight off most common illnesses under its own steam.  I'm lucky enough to have a pretty robust immune system, most likely as a result of rolling around in the mud playing rugby and have lived in the unspeakable filth of student housing.  I'll take things to supplement that when I need to, which is where those drugs come in.

I enjoy drinking tea and coffee because of the taste and the comfort of a warm drink, not because I need the caffeine in them to wake up or to stay awake.  I keep a can of red bull in the car in case I'm having to drive late / far and feel that I need something to supplement my own system, which is the same principle as the hayfever / headache premise.

Again, I enjoy drinking alcohol because I actively enjoy the things that contain it and the social aspects that it's a part of. I don't drink things I don't enjoy just to get drunk, and I certainly don't drink with the sole objective of getting drunk.

Your point of "drugs is drugs is drugs" is 100% correct and I'm not arguing that per se. However the point is choosing which ones to take, when, and why.

So one of the issues might be that there are problems with the booking system ... that has been reported by the admin on the vaccination centre chat for the mass vaccination centres locally ... they had already cut volunteer shifts down ... but last night added to that further

I preemptively take pain killers if I think I'm going to get a headache.

I fucking love painkillers.

And that's entirely your respective calls (although maybe a little too enthusiastic there ZMG 😄 )

I'm not critiquing anyone else on this btw, if not already obvious 🙂

On the supply issue with vaccines, just my experience, but I'm a newly approved volunteer and can't find a shift on the SJA app for love nor money. I know others have said similar. So would support the idea that there is a bit of a lull in the programme currently.

Having said that the app is horrendous so it might be me!

Yeah wasn't a judgment on you dude. Just offering my opinion on them!

Codeine is the best but too addictive sadly to take at all regularly. Big fan of ibuprofen though.

Absolutely over the moon now guys 🙂 might not be in a few hours mind .. although I might have no bounce back at all ... it’s weird how we all respond differently ... would love to know if there is any truth to the talk of people having had it getting worse side effects to the vaccine 💉 bring it on whatever ... closer to a summer of fun and quite a lot less stress

Not convinced that's the case everywhere or would have such a big national impact.. A lot of venues don't even use the National booking system - in Nottinghamshire they've opted out of it almost entirely and almost all venues have been moved to exclusively using a system organised by the local CCG (I think there's maybe 1 venue left that splits between the 2 systems).

Is that the GoodSam app or a different one?

Had nothing through that one, but fitting it around work I can't really start going down multiple avenues

Probably not everywhere I would agree but it’s definately impacting 3 mass vaccination centres locally in the sw

No I'm on about the St John Ambulance one. I've done hours of training to qualify for that one and I'm eligible now but can't find any shifts. I think @Leyrulion had a similar issue?

I can never find anything on Good Sam either. Will keep trying though!

To a degree I think most over-the-counter stuff like painkillers is kinda the same thing though. I'm putting aside drugs that are treatments for specific conditions (like antibiotics or a vaccine) - but if I have a splitting headache, I will take a paracetamol because otherwise I won't enjoy anything - I'll be too busy thinking "my head really hurts". Same with a cold - I'll take something to stop my nose running all day because I enjoy not having a runny nose.

Again - not saying you're wrong in anyway but I view them through the same lens myself.

Very few shifts here ZMG on a different booking system for volunteers... it’s booked up for the next month

You’re determined to not admit you were wrong aren’t you?

You were right and I was wrong on one point.

I didn't think the govt would fully open up in June. And now they're saying (with caveats) they will try to.

But my comment was more nuanced and was equally focused on whether the data supported fully opening up in June. I didn't think it did.

The jury's still out on whether it does. We will find out.
