Repeat of Charlie Brooker's Antiviral Wipe from back in May currently on bbc2.

What's super weird looking at AntiViral Wipe is that May almost feels like a whole other world ago now, nevermind look back at footage of March when this thing imploded so fast.

I watched the Death to 2020 thing Brooker did for Netflix when it surfaced there yesterday. It was basically a talking heads version, which worked in its own way but wasn't as good as this. I liked Cristin Milioti's performance - properly crazy stuff.

This was always the problem with the Nightingales, there wasn't there staff to run them. However it won't look good to be closing them down mid 2nd wave.

I had my Mam tell me yesterday that they have to army on standby to run them but they never called them up, so she's like are the hospitals really over run and why aren't the utilising the nightingales??

I tried to explain there wasn't enough specialist critical care staff and that army medics won't always be that specialised in the requirements (to be honest I've not heard anything about army running these things) - christ she flipped her lid that I was suggesting the army medics are inferior (which I didn't) so I tried to step away from the convo very quickly...

My parents have gone down a slippery slope were I can't even have reasonable discussion with them (Dad's gone down the conspiracy rabbit hole 😞 ) It's really made me sad tbh and so many folks are accepting misinformation as fact errgghhh

That’s so frustrating, my brother in law is the same and I can see an impact on my sister which is concerning. It’s so difficult when loved ones are like that.

If we really loved the NHS instead of clapping for it, we'd not have this dire situation where these great doctors have to work in a dysfunctional underfunded environment...

Hospital Workers: What is the smallest piece of low-hanging fruit that would make coming to work so much better?

(Critical care doctor)

  • Water coolers
  • Hot food out of hours
  • Being able to actually get a parking space
  • A locker Access to scrubs each day that aren’t just XXL
  • Printers that work
  • A single login to all the IT systems
  • Tea and coffee
  • Having a rota > 6/52 in advance
  • Self-rostering with SPA time

I know it made me right miserable after the call as just kept replaying it 😞

Let’s start the day on a positive ... I’ve had a negative test result through  17 hour turnaround too ... back to work tomorow as the app has told me it’s ok to go back ... come on Oxford today’s the day fingers crossed 🤞

That text arriving at 6 am, can either be a massive blessing or a curse

Do they usually come through at that time then ? Phone was on silent .. I only got it because I wasn’t sleeping well !! I’m amazed at the turnaround time though

What a giant waste of cash those nightingales are if they don’t have the staff to use them. I wonder if they could move routine procedures over to the nightingales (using specialists etc) and then expand the critical care capacity of normal hospitals.

I wonder if the contracts had any tie in with friends of ministers ?

    • Pretty sure some will be more than that.
    • It's a shame for lots of bands cancelling tours due to poor ticket sales but I'm one of the culprits as I'll wait now closer to the time as theres always a chance of a seat filler or Twickets for half the price. If the bands charged a reasonable price to start with then they'll sell out regardless. Look at Paul Heaton, £39+fees tickets for arenas where some bands are charing £150+fees for the same arena. Prices for drinks in those places is a joke too so many pick and choose.
    • Might just wait it out for the summer shows that got mentioned tbh
    • Good on him i think, though it depends on whether he really does love the music (like Steve Davis) or is just moving into it as a bizarre career option (Gok Wan, from the ten mins i observed from the side of a field once, stood there with no idea whats going on)
    • Better Man, Black maybe. I guess was the same for Metaliica.   They do have a history of bringing on some big guests, for example Pete Townsend and play Who numbers. My gut is they would prob pull it off but they'd get a section of crown leave after a bit. I don't see it happen even though I'd love it.    Other Stage would be immense.   I seem to remember Emily Eavis watching at a Wembley arena night and if it was regular gig with more random unknown fan favourite songs she saw she prob thought not suitable for Pyramid.
