I read Rawnsleys book about Brown and he has some pretty unappealing traits, you’re right about him about him being obsessed with public opinion. But he doesn’t get the credit he deserves for how he reacted in 2008 and I think he could have done similar.

Blair would be my choice out of that lot. At least he was competent. I miss Competence.

In fairness, that's what the Brexit campaign ran on - saying the UK could have all the benefits and none of the obligations.
