You can see his point to be fair. The year time they played Arcadia was a DJ set, not live.

Yeah, I can see his point. It wasn't a serious boo tbh as, as much as I would love it to happen, I was aware it was unlikely.

What do you reckon the chances of them both playing over the weekend is though? Bearing in mind both their histories in the dance/electronic music side of the festival?

Underworld unlikely. Orbital probably. But not on IICON.

Is this based on any knowledge or information, or is it just speculation? I'd love to have both there this year, only caught the last 20 mins of Underworld's set last time they were there 'cos one of our group dragged us to see Disclosure, who were shite.

Orbital have a better storied and longer relationship with the festival than Underworld (not that they haven’t played a few times before) - wasn’t it 17 years between appearances for the latter before 2016?

I was surprised Orbital didn’t play last year -  only reason why they didn’t, I suspect,  was that they were being held back for the 50th.

With today’s info regarding WH and Iicon, I reckon now they’ll be a JP headliner. Or at a push, a Park headliner..although if the Bicep info is true, I doubt there will be 2 dance acts headlining there.

What was the info regarding WH?

Anyway, I’m pretty sure we had info a long time ago that Orbital were gonna be headlining John Peel one night so I’ll stick with that, and I’d hazard a guess that they’ll be on the Sunday night.

That the WH headliners were Thom Yorke, Kano and The Isley Brothers

It’s based on knowledge I’d have said it puts the idea of it thoroughly to bed.

Was a pipe dream for me, I won’t end up seeing them now. My headliners set in stone.

Can’t believe you’re that committed, that early, Tommy!

Impressive. Mental, but impressive!

:)

I highly recommend the Orbital Glastonbury DVD for those who haven't seen it. Covers 94-04 and is an absolute treat. Personally I think their live shows have waned a bit since the second comeback, so I'm not sure that I would go for them as a headliner this year. Can see them doing JP and not getting a great crowd, they aren't as big a draw as they used to be sadly.

I said to their tour manager that i was hoping for West Holts and he said "we were and for Groove Armada but so many people want to play for the 50th"

I think he said Groove are in the Glade.

Surely not, that would be ridiculous

    • Primavera refunding day tickets which are probably a negligible percentage of attendees yesterday.
    • Thursday day tickets being refunded. Fair play.
    • I’ve had a good sleep and I feel weirdly zen about the whole thing.   My first Primavera, so not the greatest first impression. I guess today couldn’t be any worse, right?   Thoroughly enjoyed Men I Trust and Geese. Cupra is a beautiful stage and the crowd seemed fun, friendly and engaged.   I think it probably could have gone even worse, considering how dangerous the crowding felt at times.   Anyway, we go again.
    • Brighton centre is a weird old venue for the Mary Wallopers - a great band, a really good live spectacle, and its a saturday night as well which sets it all up - but its at the bloody Centre? a charmless nonsense of a conference centre? Brighton dome is a ten min walk away and is so much nicer a place to see bands its ridiculous!    ah well, i'll probably mosy along anyways . . .
    • So bad honestly. I get that bad weather happens but their communication was non existent. When you're managing crowds of tens of thousands of people, it's just not good enough. I left when Massive Attack was cancelled (the first time) and it genuinely did feel unsafe trying to get out. No one knew what was going on, people still sitting in the ground when there were hoards of people trying to leave, no crowd management at all...   I've been to PS enough times to know sometimes you need to just roll with it but this was way worse than "the bar queue was 30 minutes long".    Today will be better but still feel super disappointed.
